People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, consisting of more than two million members and supporters. PETA focuses on four main areas of animal cruelty: factory farms, laboratories, the clothing trade, and the entertainment industry. PETA thrives on public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns. You can get more information at www.peta.org.
PETA has been holding a contest for several years now known as the Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door. The Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door is a contest that consists of hundreds of men and women applying to be the next hottest and most successful vegetarian. Both men and women apply for the contest and share their success stories and photos. Thousands of people (not necessarily PETA members) vote for their top choices and each year’s winner gets a free trip for two to Hawaii.
Congratulations to the 2024 winners: Marie from Bonita Springs, Florida (above) and Loyal from Milwaukee, Wisconsin (below). Check out the 2024 winners and finalists for yourself. Are you the next Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door? Go to the PETA website to enter. Good luck!
While vegetarianism is known as a dietary lifestyle of consuming plant-based foods, such as fruits and vegetables, vegetarians also eat nuts, grains, seeds, and sometimes eggs and dairy products. There are several different types of vegetarian diets, and everyone who chooses to partake in them typically falls into one of the four following diet plans:
The ovo-lacto vegetarian diet consists of both egg and dairy. An ovo-vegetarian includes only eggs, while a lacto-vegetarian diet only includes dairy products. A vegan diet only consists of the basic vegetarian foods while excluding any and all animal products.
