The Biggest Loser is kicking off yet another couples season on January 3. The motto for the season is “NO EXCUSES!” which is very fitting for the start of a new year. The two trainers on season 13 are Dolvett Quince and Bob Harper, who we had the opportunity to speak with this morning. He answered a few of our questions as we await tomorrow night’s season premiere.
Dolvett, Bob, and their teams are competing against each other, so the obvious question is, “How do the trainers get along?” At least, we and @wlcmomof3 on Twitter wanted to know. Bob told us they “get along just fine,” but he doesn’t focus on Dolvett because he is focused solely on his team during workouts. Behind the scenes, Dolvett and Bob do not get the opportunity to talk much as they are separated most of the time. It’s not like the Bob and Jillian Michaels duo that we’ve seen in seasons past!
Speaking of Jillian, we asked Bob about his partner in crime, at the request of @neweverymorning, and how her departure has affected him and the show. He says that they have worked together since the “beginning of time” and it is a huge adjustment not having her around. He feels as though something is missing while at the ranch and it’s just not the same without his partner there. Last month, the duo reunited on her new stage at The Doctors for a Crossfit WOD.
We told Bob that Shay Sorrells from season 8 came out yesterday with a very honest and inspiring blog about gaining some weight back and the seven mistakes she made after the show. We then asked him if he thought that the show, psychiatrists, or trainers should do more after care for the contestants once they leave the ranch.
“I do everything I can to wake the contestants up while on the ranch because they come with a lot of baggage,” he said. He knows that it is a struggle on a day-to-day basis and always will be before, during, and after the ranch. He says that it all comes down to self-responsibility even after leaving the ranch. He did say, though, that he loves Shay and wants nothing more than for her to succeed.
Season 13 of The Biggest Loser is going to be one you will not want to miss! The episode starts with a twist, of course. As these 10 teams of two, made of parents and children, spouses, and the like, enter the ranch to compete as pairs, Alison quickly informs them that everyone is being split and will have to compete against one another.
We can’t wait to see the work ethic, drive, struggles, successes, (drama), and all of the inspiration that these new members of the Biggest Loser family will surely bring! Be sure to tune in on January 3 at 8p EST / 7p CST.
