Written by Alicia Rose

Gaining weight is often unsettling and upsetting when it occurs to the person who falls victim to packing on the pounds, but imagine on top of the devastation and your new physical and health problems, you are also fired from your job because of it.

Well, for Carnie Wilson, the 42 year-old 5’3″ singer famous for her pop group Wilson Phillips and television hosting gigs, the case is just that.

Wilson, who has often been in the press for her ever-changing weight, often losing a significant amount of it, then gaining most of it back, and sometimes then some, has been yo-yo dieting for years. In 1999, she also reportedly underwent gastric bypass surgery where she dropped from 300 pounds to 150 pounds. Following that she posed for Playboy and appeared in the television show Celebrity Fit Club.

The biggest night in television is just days away, and everyone in Hollywood is preparing. The 62nd annual Emmy Awards will air this Sunday, August 29 on NBC and for the first time in more than 30 years will be live on both coasts. Hosting this year is late night funny man Jimmy Fallon, who says he’s proud of the work they’ve done for this year’s show and is so excited about everyone seeing it he wishes they could just air it early.

We had a chance to speak with Jimmy as he took a break from rehearsals at the Nokia Theater in Hollywood. He said one of the biggest challenges facing him in preparation for the show has been keeping his weight down. It seems as though the ladies aren’t the only ones trying to lose weight before their red carpet appearances, Jimmy as well “just wants to lose weight.” He said if you were to ask him what he’s wearing, he’ll tell you Spanx made by Tom Ford.

Listen now to hear more with Jimmy and how he’s ensuring the tux fits Sunday night. His tactics may involve 5,000 crunches a day with Jersey Shore‘s The Situation. He also talks about the weight loss show he enjoys, and which he thinks has “derailed.”

Divorce from Britney Made me Fat, says Kevin Federline

We’ve all heard that falling in love can cause our waist lines to expand as we allow ourselves to indulge in yummy and not so healthy treats from time to time. This typically happens because in this new found bliss we become comfortable with ourselves in the company of our companion and, many times for women, end up taking on the eating habits of our partner/spouse.

It isn’t just falling and being in love that can cause weight gain, but also the unraveling of the relationship should that happen. According to an interview with Kevin Federline on the Bonnie Hunt show, he speaks to the eating habits that evolved post divorce from his famous pop star wife Britney Spears. (more…)

Kevin Federline to Shape Up on Celebrity Fit Club

Celebrity reality shows are one the great train wrecks of current pop culture. If the subjects aren’t simply celebrity has-beens from long-gone eras, they are those who have continued to hang by their fingernails onto their need to be famous.

VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club 7 (wow, there were six others?!) parades out a few stars of yesteryear (Bobby Brown, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row, Nicole Eggert of Baywatch). But. Then there are those people who are famous for being on a different TV show, which by today’s standards makes you a star! That’s right, people like Tanisha Thomas and Jay McCarroll are now career reality TV personalities. Hey, it’s a living I guess. (more…)

Hilary Swank to Pack on the Pounds for Her Next Role

While most stars in Hollywood are under the pressure to lose weight, a few starlets are literally under contract to gain weight. All in the name of business, of course. Hillary SwankRenee Zellweger, Matt Damon, Eva Longoria-Parker and now add Hilary Swank to the list of actors who have gained a hefty chunk of weight for an upcoming role.  In preparation for French Women Don’t Get Fat, the movie adaptation of the bestselling book by Mireille Guiliano, Swank, who is also producing the movie, will pack on 20 to 30 pounds for her role as the manager of a champagne company. No stranger to transforming herself for a role, Swank radically transformed her thin figure to one of a powerhouse boxer Million Dollar Baby and to a man in Boys Don’t Cry. Now, it’s her turn to reverse roles and swap her personal trainer in for a personal chef who can dish up calorie-laden meals and carb-rich dishes to help her plump up her waistline.

In our weight-obsessed culture, it is more than refreshing to see the bravery of female celebs like Swank, Zellweger and others who aren’t too scared to watch the scales creep up for the sake of their profession. But then again, if I were given a couple million dollars, I would have no problem sitting on the couch and fattening up. Just as long as I knew that I could eventually take the weight off.I wonder how many of these folks who have gained weight for roles actually welcome the first day of their diet when they can go back to their salad-eating and exercise-filled days? I don’t know, but I’m sure that Swank, who is uber disciplined will approach her French role with her trademark zeal, dedication and enthusiasm as she noshes on pain au chocolat and hunks of brie. And I’m sure, that when her role is finished, she will have gained even further insight into how changing your physical shape also alters your non-physical shape as well.

Dine like a Celebrity Fit Club member

If it’s good enough for Marsha Brady then maybe it’s good enough for you too. Susan’s Healthy Gourmet is a meal-based delivery system that prepares meals for you. All you do is eat them and lose the weight. Sounds easy, right? This meal program is what helped Maureen McCormick (aka Marsha Brady) keep her weight off after winning the Celebrity Fitness Challenge in which she lost a highly commendable 34 pounds! Susan is back at it again for this coming season as she provides meals for VH1’s returning hit, Celebrity Fit Club. The meals that the season six cast are eating have been prepared exclusively by Susan’s.

I love the idea of having my meals prepared for me with all of the calories, and fat and protein grams calculated. LOVE IT! I have never had the fun (or wallet) of joining such a service, but it sounds like its a great and convenient way to pamper yourself while trying to get the number on the scale to drop down a few.

I do wonder how the food tastes? Is it like airplane food, but low cal? Are the portions meager or do you feel pretty satisfied after noshing? Have you ever used a meal delivery program like Susan’s Healthy Gourmet? If so, let us know what your experience was like. I’m really curious to find out.

You can learn more about Susan’s Healthy Gourmet, or check out Barb Crews’ journal while following the Biggest Loser Meal Plan.
