+I tried a juice diet for 16 days and lost 14 lbs. I had so much energy after the first 3-5 days and everyone told me how great I looked. Random people that didn't even know I was on a diet. Definitely a great diet for those who like juice :)

I agree.. well think about it, you cant really diet for your whole life, i think that is miserable , food is very important in our life, it makes us function and in order to function well we need to eat everything , including fats but in low amounts...
posted Mar 2nd, 2009 5:35 amExcersise never hurt anyone, i know it is tiresome and so on but have to do it.
Drink lots of water, eat vegetables and i have heard that half of a lemon with water in the morning before breakfast does you very good:), good intake of vitamin C , plus it increases your metabolism.. dont go for fast diets... went fast, comes back double fast..
Good luck to you all!

+you're all wrong guys, the juice diet WORKS i tell you! my mate did it for 30 days and lost 3 stone. I've been on it a WEEK and allready have lost a stone! and you're wrong AGAIN, the juice diet majorly speeds up your metabolism and you don't put anything back on once you stop- fact.

-I have a great deal of experience of gain and loss (as many of us do), and I think the bottom line is that the only way to lose weight is to get off your ___ and make it happen. Eat smart.....we all know how. Exercise...we all know how. Yes, easier said than done but so are many things. It is a matter of what it is worth to you. I'm gaining weight again so obviously I have cared less the last month. However, I'm caring more again and am nipping it in the bud! I've decided I really don't want to slip badly and find myself back where I was because we all know it's a lot harder to get rid of than gain. My problem is living a life of extremes....I'm really on or really off. I need to find balance, along with many others I speak with. Ultimately, we need to make it happen and we all know how. The internet has no easy answer because there is no such thing! Good luck to you all, and wish me luck too.....god knows I need it!!

Well, guys, I have been on a diet for 2 months, just me without consulting a doctor and I have lost 21 Kgs, which basically a very simple diet, in the morning 4 slices of dark bread and 2 slices of light cheese, in lunch, just a piece of meat and lots of vegetables, and if I am still hungry an apple is what I add. if u wanna lose more weight, try dividing each meal into 2, like instead of 4 slices in the morning, make them 2 slices at 9 am for instance and another 2 at 1, the good thing about my diet is that I did it my own no strings attached, so i can go out and still eat healthy food and diet one. It is a free diet based on calories, like I can go to Mc donalds with ma friends and eat a chicken salad, go to Chilis and eat grilled chicken, u can anywhere with ur friends and find ur food, just dont exceed 1000 Calories/ day and try to do sports twice or more a week. Good Luck to you all

Each to their I own I say- Do it the long way, the sensible way, or the short cut, or starve, whatever floats your boat :) As long as you see results and are happy with the results (on the scale and off the scale) then you've acheived you're goal. Why get all anal about whether its water weight and healthy or not? Presumably people wouldn't want to be losing weight unless they were unhealthy in the first place-no?

people!!! The only thing these type of diets do to your body is slow down your metabolism! The numbers on the scale may move but its ALL water. Your body is an incredibly intelligent machine so if you cut down calories it will automatically adapt itself to that amout of calories and when you start eating again it will quickly store it all cuz it doesnt known when it'll be the next time you'll eat again. It's a survival mechanism. There is no easy way of losing weight and the best thing to do is eat a balanced diet, small amounts of food 6 times a day, drink plenty of water and EXERCISE!!! this is the most effectiv way of losing fat, exercise! Another thing your body does NOT need help detoxing, it can manage on its own perfectly well. it really has to be a lifestyle change. i'm giving it a go and its hard, i constantly feel i need to treat myself with a chocolate cookie but i just try to think that the satisfaction i'll get from it cannot compare with the one i'll get from feeling gorgeous on my summer clothes. Good luck everyone!

A good diet consists of carbs, proteins & fat. Those are the 3 nutrient sources. The juice diet is just carbs so obviously unbalanced and nothing to do long term.

I agree with Goergie in that your can still eat good foods and still juice. In 14 days I have lost 10 lbs while only juiceing in the morning and afternoon. And don't eat anything past 6pm unless it's a light snack of easily digested good foods.

OK folks, how about a little common sense. If you want to get a jump start on your diet using the juice, you DON'T have to just drink the juice. You want a detox and maybe some weight loss? Try this: Take the 32 oz bottle of juice, dilute it with an equal amount of water as it says, then put half of the diluted juice away, and drink the rest throughout the day...BUT...also eat green vegetables and very lean proteins such as egg whites, chicken breast or Tilapia. Do this for 2 days only, drinking 1/2 the juice the first day, the other 1/2 the next. 2 days, that's it. No breads, dairy, fruit, or fatty proteins. You will get the benefit of the detox (green vegetables are extremely cleansing and detoxifying), most likely avoid headaches and lack of energy because of the protien, and get "real" weight loss. And hey, don't knock getting rid of water weight. It may only be water, but your body carries the burdon of it, just like the fat. Excess water can effect blood pressure, brain function, and various other body systems adversely. I call this the "LEAN" fast forward. Last time I did it (about a month ago), I lost 5.4 lbs. If it's was all water, so be it. But the numbers on the scale moved, and I didn't have to do for 5 days! You can safely do this every 14 days if you feel you need to, but it should only be a boost, not a complete diet. A complete diet inclueds proteins, vegetables, fruits, starches (YES starches!), dairy, and a little fat. And of course lots of water. Focus on getting all the components of a healthy diet, learning proper portions, and keeping your blood sugar level and you will lose weight. And always remember, your health is worth the effort!

for gods sake, all you have to do is eat healthier food every day, there is no need to starve yourself by not eating anything, and only drinking juice! these type of diets are to blame for the hundreds and thousands of cases of eating disorders being diagnosed! :(

I am on the seventh day of a all fresh vege-fruit juice fast. Im planning on doing it for 30 days, and sometimes i get headaches but apart from that it is amazing and celansing. And i probably lost 2-4kgs in 6 days

I think I'm gonna do this diet. Then after the week, I think i'll slowly jump into eating healthier. I think it'll produce good results :)

Yeah I think this would be a better detox or jumpstart diet. I have tried other juice diets and I find them great starters but I can not stay on them long.
Cowgirl Sammie
No food just juice for a week? Makes since that that would help you lose pounds. But I guess if you're wanting a quick way to get started on a healthier diet this would be the way to go.

I think it's nice that you point out negative side affects- as this diet can not be good for you long term!
bethany_mitchell
cowgirl- it's definitely just something to jumpstart. A juice or fast diet shouldn't be longterm at all. How scary would that be? Youd' starve! And they're right, the first time I did this and then stopped, evertyhing I'd lost came right back. so you definitely need to start another diet quickly.
