Another trainer from NBC's hit TV show The Biggest Loser is making their technique and knowledge available to anyone who is seeking to shed some extra pounds. Kim Lyons is widely known for her disciplined but compassionate approach as she encouraged her team members to change not just their body size but their emotional, mental and cognitive behaviors as well.
Her new book, Your Body, Your Life: The 12-Week Program to Optimum Physical, Mental & Emotional Fitness" is one of the latest books to hit the shelves that encourages and guides you to meet your health goals by blending a program of exercise, nutrition, inspiration and motivation.
Kim's 12-week program is designed to give you the tools to optimize your health. Her program involves rigorous exercise and a balanced nutrition plan, as well as lessons that address many of the psychological and practical barriers that often thwart us from losing weight and keeping it off. For instance, Lyons includes many tips on how to indulge without the bulge such as being cautious when you consume alcohol since those calories tally up quickly and heavily. She also offers tips for exercising even when it's too cold outside to go for a walk or run. At the end of each chapter, a "homework" section outlines various mental, emotional or physical goals to achieve that draw upon the key points of the chapter.
Complete with visually-friendly illustrations, meal plans and homework, Lyons guarantees that in just three months, you will make great strides toward creating a healthier and happier you.
Do You Know the Best Diets of 2024?
- Created by a fitness expert who has successful experience in working with extreme cases of weight loss
- Premise of the program relies on changing lifestyle behaviors and thought patterns rather than offering a quick fix to losing weight
- Personal stories in the book offer inspiring real life experience of weight loss success
- Includes a cheat day
- Even though there is no magic pill to losing weight, some of Lyons' tips and nutrition advice may come off as being already heard before
"Your Body, Your Life" contains a meal plan that is easy to follow and easy to comprehend. Lyons also goes into various lessons on metabolism and what certain types of food do in our systems when we consume them. She recommends a cheat day where you can indulge in your cravings as a way to not just reward yourself but to also keep the reality of moderation and indulgence within your weekly routine of eating.
The exercise component of "Your Body, Your Life" involves a circuit-based approach that is divided into three levels which vary in their degree of intensity. During each workout, you perform intervals of cardio, strength-building and flexibility training as a part of your whole workout routine. Lyons also adds plyometrics moves, which is a growing trend in the exercise world that involves producing fast and powerful movements as you jump around in an effort to maximize muscular power.
If you're looking for a new fitness book that is encouraging, motivational and informational, Kim Lyons' "Your Body, Your Life" is a program that is real, practical and not loaded down with gimmicks, faulty information or magic supplements to shed those extra pounds. It is a comprehensive guide to changing how you eat, how you use your body and how you think about yourself. Lyons spells out her 12-week approach for you and leaves you the responsibility for clocking in the exercise hours, chewing on the food in her nutrition plans and performing the mental and emotional work she demands of you. At the end of these three disciplined months, you'll hopefully see a healthier you - both inside and out.

+This book has a bunch of great advice both for exercise and nutrition. I love the diet part of it because it is simple, clear, and concise. You don't have to go out and buy all sorts of special powders, pills, or shakes. The exercise section is fantastic. The photos are perfect representations of the movements needed to perform...plus, Kim is Hot so that is a bonus. My wife and I are on her plan and it is working great. I highly recommend checking it out.
