Study after study shows that the Weight Watchers program is one of the few weight loss systems that produces long-term results. One key factor that makes this program so successful is the support group meetings. Obviously, it's not just keeping track of your PointsPlus values or exercising according to your plan, the support and sharing gained from Weight Watchers Meetings is an indispensable part of the success of each individual member.

More than 40 years ago Weight Watchers began as an idea to gather women in a weekly meeting to help each other lose weight. The meetings hold members accountable, but also offer motivation and education necessary to meet your goals. You'll also learn the appropriate Weight Watchers PointsPlus values range for your needs, and learn how to use those values to help you make healthy food choices. You'll likely find a meeting in your own community, as the Weight Watchers brand is a trusted name in dieting around the world.

Weight Watchers Meetings - Purpose The overall purpose of a Weight Watchers Meeting is to build your knowledge and acquire the tools you need to lose weight and keep it off. At each meeting you'll receive information on how to stick to your plan step-by-step.

Weight Watchers Meetings - Agenda Each Weight Watchers Meeting is facilitated by a Meeting Leader. Each leader is a member of Weight Watchers and is therefore trained in how the program works. They are also able to share their own insights on their journey to developing a healthy relationship with food.

At the weekly meeting, each member has a private weigh-in to monitor progress and stay accountable for her losses or gains. The weigh-in is done by the Meeting Leader or the receptionist.

Each week, the leader discusses a topic that will vary and is usually related to eating, fitness and other weight-loss and health subjects. No one is obligated to speak or join in the discussion, but typically, the meeting turns into a forum where longstanding members and newer members share stories, tips and advice with the rest of the group.

In addition to the weekly meetings, members may subscribe to the Weight Watchers eTools, which is a way to monitor and manage your plan in between meetings. eTools provides PointsPlus values tracking, recipes, fitness demos and more.

Meetings are held numerous times throughout the day. Check the Weight Watchers website to locate a meeting near you.

As part of Weight Watchers Meetings, your leader will introduce you to the Weight Watchers 360 program. Your leader will help you determine the appropriate PointsPlus values goal for you each day, show you how to calculate those values and successfully meet your goal. The program takes into account fat, protein, carbs and fat grams and encourages you to make smarter choices about the foods you choose to eat. You'll also learn about Power Foods, which are specific foods that are not just healthy, but also help to keep you feeling satisfied.

One thing that most people using Weight Watchers enjoy most is that they can eat nearly anything they like- as long as it stays within their PointsPlus values. While you have the flexibility to splurge on chocolate cake, a treat like that will consume most of your PointsPlus values for the day, leaving you hungry at meal time. Instead, you'll learn to use your PointsPlus values to make nutritious choices that are filling and satisfying.

A Weight Watchers diet includes lean proteins, whole grains, a lot of fruits and vegetables, dairy and eggs. There are no restricted foods and no mandated meal plans. You'll use the PointsPlus values to make the decision to have a dinner of grilled fish, vegetables and brown rice, or a pizza and soda.

There are also thousands of Weight Watchers recipes. Don't think diet food, think wholesome, nutritious, satisfying and delicious. Be it desserts and beverages or entrees and salads, Weight Watchers has created some excellent meal ideas so you can concentrate on living healthy.

EXERCISEEXERCISE

Exercise is promoted as part of the Weight Watchers program. The Weight Watchers Meetings focus more on the eating and social support necessary to meet goals, and do not provide as much fitness guidance as a Weight Watchers Online subscriber would receive.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

The Weight Watchers program is clearly a plan that works as long as you do the work. Part of that is attending meetings where you'll receive information to successfully adhere to your plan and listen to others as they make or have made their way to their own weight loss goals. The Weight Watchers Meeting schedule is also flexible as meetings are often held throughout the day to accommodate attendees.

Studies have shown that having support as you diet is an important factor in immediate and long-term weight loss success. Weight Watchers understands the power of support and information sharing and applies it to the agenda of each of its meetings.

I love this program. My meeting is the best. I have lost 20lbs. My leader said it best. If all I lose is 20lbs in one year, that is still less than what I was prior to weight watchers. Diets don't work.

Can't go wrong with having a network of like minded people all together. I do sometimes I have people in my meetings that dominate the conversation and that isn't helping anyone but otherwise I am definitely learning a lot!

Dawn

I ordered the WW at home package and I spent over a year prior to my wedding doing weight watchers and I lost 35 lbs. I felt great!! Then I went on my honeymoon and did not follow the WW plan & came home and never went back to it I was so sick and tired of watching what I was eating so I stopped and now I have gain every single pound back. So as of today I am back ont he WW plan and will remember this is not a diet this is a life style change. I will always have to watch what I am eating. I think this time I will be a member and go to meeting, maybe if I did that the first time I would of gotten back on track right after the honeymoon. SO here I go today I woke up exercised and have been keeping track of my oints....so far I feel much better about myself.
