Get Real and Stop Dieting deals with eating truly healthy without being on a diet. The book deals with some common misconceptions that people fall prey to when it comes to eating. The misconceptions that are dealt with include:
- If you eat healthy, you must be on a diet.
- Eating healthy is boring, tastes awful and is never satisfying.
- There is a secret to weight loss.
- You need to count calories to be successful.
- Eating healthy is difficult and complicated.
While adopting this way of healthy eating, you will be enjoying whole, natural and simple foods rather than the processed foods you may be used to. Some of the benefits of eating this way are that whole foods are lower in calories, more filling, protect against disease, are pure and help decrease unhealthy fat consumption. The best sources for whole foods are fresh and frozen vegetables and fruits, unrefined grains, legumes and beans, nuts, seeds, eggs and ocean-raised fish. Something else that is stressed is eating several small meals every two to three hours throughout the day. This practice helps control your appetite, keeps energy levels stable, bolsters metabolism and keeps you aware of your relationship with food. You should never avoid breakfast because that will cause you to eat more throughout the course of the day. Some of the foods you would eat while on this program include:
- Barley
- Brown rice
- Buckwheat
- Cornmeal
- Wheat
- Whole grain pasta
- Beans
- Chickpea
- Broccoli
- Potatoes
- Cauliflower
- Walnuts
- Meats (lean cuts)
- Poultry
- Fish
- Quinoa
- Egg whites
Exercise advice is given with Get Real and Stop Dieting but it is not a primary focus. Engaging in physical activity on a regular basis will help when it comes to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. If you want to lose weight you will need to exercise more and decrease your calorie intake. Some of the workouts you can do for weight loss or to remain healthy include:
- Walking
- Jogging
- Jumping jacks
- Aerobics
- Swimming
- Jumping rope
- Skating
For those who hate going on a diet and want to find a simple guide about healthy eating, Get Real and Stop Dieting has a lot to offer. The book is simple to understand and gives you all the information you need for healthy eating. You can make a lifestyle change with this information instead of a temporary change. There isn’t much info included on exercise, but with the food info you can learn a lot. Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean you’re always on a diet depriving yourself. You can be fully satisfied when you eat and enjoy several meals throughout the day while doing it in a healthy way.
