Nu-Kitchen is a beloved meal-delivery program by many of Hollywood’s A-list celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Molly Sims. For the past few years, it has been limited to meals delivered to New York City, but in 2009 it expanded its reach nationwide so that anyone from Vermont to Dallas can enjoy their healthy eats.
With five different programs to choose from, Nu-Kitchen is about as close as you can get to having your own personal chef shopping, dicing and preparing fresh and tasty meals for you.
Rather than frozen packaged meals like most meal-delivery programs offer, Nu-Kitchen delivers only fresh food made from scratch the day before you receive your order and puts you in full control over what and when you eat. You get to choose which meals you want, make your own menu selections, and decide when you’d like to use the service. In addition, each week the menu changes so that you’ll never tire of one particular food.
Nu-Kitchen’s five programs are: Nu-Kitchen 200, Nu-Kitchen at Work, Nu-Kitchen at Home, Nu-Kitchen Nu Moms and Vegetarian. It does not claim to be a diet program, but rather a healthy lifestyle program that easily accommodates your weight loss, weight maintenance or health goals.

All of Nu-Kitchen’s meals are in accordance with the recommended nutrient allowances by the USDA. Entrees contain 45% of calories from carbohydrates, 21% from protein and 34% from fat. In addition, you can find out what the nutritional breakdown is for each item before ordering it through the nutrition guide on their website. Nu-Kitchen uses healthy techniques when preparing meals such as grilling, roasting or broiling, which allow for the true flavors of the foods to come through rather than covering them up with excess fat and oil.
Nu-Kitchen offers breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. You choose the items you want to eat based upon their weekly menu and how often you want to receive the meals. Nu-Kitchen programs allow you to eat three meals a day plus two snacks. The Nu Mom’s program features foods that are high in folate and fiber while the Nu-Kitchen 200 program incorporates foods that help you reach your weight loss goals.
Sample dishes include hot millet with caramelized fruit for breakfast, Hainese chicken with julienne vegetables and whole grain rice for lunch, pistachio and lemon crusted lamb for dinner and baked apples with cinnamon streusel and peanut butter brownies for snacks.
Meals are delivered fresh to your door and only require reheating before you enjoy them.
Although there are no general exercise guidelines with the Nu-Kitchen service, if you enroll in the Nu-Kitchen 200 program, you receive a fitness assessment from one of their fitness experts who help tailor an exercise program for you.
Nu-Kitchen is a popular meal-delivery program that differs from other programs because they deliver fresh, not frozen, meals and you get to control what you eat and how often you receive the meals. They offer a variety of programs that are tailored to different lifestyles such as new moms, women who stay at home, individuals who work and those who want to lose weight.
While this service features great food and a lot of convenience, it does cost money and it does not teach you how to prepare your own healthy meals.
If you are interested in checking out Nu-Kitchen, they frequently offer discount coupons on first orders.

The food was high in fiber but often was bland and was very high in fat. Even though it was good fats, I was eating over 60g of fat a day which was

unappetizing. Also, their 1500 calorie option, when added up, came to 1660 calories.

-About 2 years ago I signed up for a month of delivery. This was before NutriSystem bought them, so maybe they've changed, but I actually GAINED weight on the program. The food was delicious, but definitely not for the diet conscious. It was also extremely expensive-- in the range of $800-900. The nice part was the food was delivered daily (in NYC) and was extremely fresh.

-This program is not what it is billed to be. The "fresh" food are mailed 1 week in advance!!! There is no customer service. They lie on the phone. If you are a professional, forget it.

+I've signed up for the 3 day trial and am planning on doing trials of the fresh diet and chef's kitchen also. I tried the ediets one some 18 months back and the food was average. nu-ktichen has incredible food i'm just amazed that it is calorie controlled. so far the portions have been generous also. fabulous breakfast this morning - spinach and eggwhite quiche with breakfast potatoes - sesame crusted salmon for dinner. incredible snacks - pita chips and artichoke dip and chocolate chip cookie that was bakery fresh, reasonably sized and delicious.
