DIET and NUTRITIONDIET and NUTRITION

The diet for The Six-Week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle is very similar to some of the low-carb diets that have been criticized in the past. The diet you engage in on this program is heavy in protein and very limited in carbohydrates. Items like red meat, eggs, cream and butter are encouraged and saturated fat is said to be needed for the body to eliminate visceral fat around the midsection. Carbs found in foods like potatoes, pasta, rice, bread and sugar are to be avoided completely. You will also find that caffeine and alcohol are limited while on the program. There are over 80 recipes included in this book and all of them can be eaten during your six weeks on the program.

EXERCISEEXERCISE

Exercise is different with The Six-Week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle program. You aren’t directly given a command to exercise, but instead the book states that once you get used to the new way of eating, you will want to exercise because you will have so much energy. If you decide you don’t want to exercise, this program claims that you will still lose more fat than those eating a low calorie diet that includes carbs and exercise. If you decide to add some resistance training to your low-carb program, you can double the fat loss over just dieting alone.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

The Six-Week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle offers a low-carb approach to losing weight. This book includes plenty of scientific information and the program doesn’t staunchly require that you exercise. The eating plan is strict and it eliminates entire food groups from your diet. Those that have tried this approach seem to be satisfied with the results. Keeping the weight off and continuing to eat a low-carb diet that is high in saturated fat such as this one may cause some long term health problems, though.

I have now done this regime twice. The first time I lost around 20lb and the second time 10lb. In both cases I brought myself down to a small 12 dress size uk. I initially found it hard to adapt to the first section (2 weeks of shakes and 1 low carb meal per day) but it was definitely easier the second time round because I knew what to expect. I treat this regime like my 2 yearly liver cleanse now and it works well for me.

I'm 61 year old female runner, and had gained about 6 pounds over the last year. I developed a wad of belly fat on my upper abdomen like I have never had ever in my life. So far I have only done the first 2 weeks, but my belly is almost flat again! Yes, I get hungry, but you're SUPPOSED to get hungry between meals, otherwise you are eating too much/too often. I was off running when I started (post half-marathon), but ran twice this week, and had plenty of energy. Realized today that I have energy that it used to take a lot of caffeine to feel! Sleeping better, and my mood is more even. I love this diet!
