As a former supermodel, Tyra Banks knows a few things about the pressures to be thin. After leaving the modeling world and starting her own talkshow, Banks loosened the reins on her diet and gained a purported 30 pounds. After dealing with ridicule from the media and more importantly, after realizing that her health and well-being were suffering from carrying around the extra weight, Banks decided to lose weight - for herself and her health.
Rather than aiming to be stick-skinny like her modeling years, Banks instead set off to get to a healthy weight so that she could still enjoy food and her curves and be a healthy role model to all of the young girls who look up to her.
With the assistance of Heather Bauer, author of the Wall Street Diet, she and Banks created an eating plan that focused on nutritious and satisfying foods rather than fad diet foods and deprivation tactics.
The Tyra Banks Diet is a clean-eating and healthy diet comprised of fresh fruits, veggies, lean proteins and plenty of low-calorie and filling soups. In addition, regular exercise that includes walking and running almost every day.
