Are Phentermine and Metformin safe together?

Has anyone been prescribed Metformin with Phentermine?
I need to lose 60 Lbs & just started Phentermine 2 days ago but I'm afraid to take both together. My Dr. prescribed BOTH of them at the same time but I'm afraid of side effects because I don't have diabetes. Any input or encouragement? How fast can I lose weight taking Phentermine alone?

I had the same amount of weight to lose, and my dr. prescribed zonisamide and wellbutrin, and so far I've lost 25 lbs in under 3 months. If you're concerned about taking metformin, maybe you can Ask your dr. about this combination of medications. Phentermine is usually prescribed with these meds, but because I am currently taking adderall for adhd, I really don't need it. You should be able to lose weight with just phentermine, but the studies done on Zonisamide and Wellbutrin are very promising. I wish you luck-I know how difficult it is to want to lose 60 lbs, but the good news for both of us, is that it is possible!
I would hope both your dr. and the pharmacy would tell you if taking these two meds together is unsafe. I too had 60 pounds to lose, and my dr. prescribed zonisamide and wellbutrin for me. I've read some promising studies about zonisamide and wellbutrin for weight loss. You should lose weight with phentermine, it is an appetite suppressant, but maybe you can ask your dr. about alternatives to metformin, because of your concerns. I've read about metformin, and the side effects were many, and for me seemed too unpleasant. I wish you the best, as losing 60 lbs is difficult, but the good news is that it IS possible! Good Luck!
