Having trouble with hunger?

Kayla asked this question Apr 8th, 2011 12:51 am

Hi, I've been on the 17 day diet on and off for about a week now, but everyday I can't help but to cheat just a little bit- either by sneaking 3 Oreos or eating breaded fish instead of normal, etc. I'm always hungry and tired now. I'm thinking this is because I'm a teenager and just need more food than an adult? I just gained a few pounds last year and was looking to lose about 20 pounds, and to just be healthier in general.
Any tips?
Also, does the yogurt have to be sugar-free? Because so far I haven't been able to find any.

Kayla, From what I've read on this website about this diet, it seems restrictive - esp for a teenager. As a personal trainer and fitness coach, I would suggest you talk to your health care provider or a nutritionalist about setting up a healthy eating plan for you - one you can maintain long term, not just 17 days. Eating whole foods and whole grains will help keep you fuller longer and give your body the nutrients is needs. And skip those Oreos. Try a bit of good dark chocolate if you feel the craving. Your body does not need Oreos. If you like yogurt, I suggest trying Fage or Chobani Greek yogurt. 2x the protein of the sweetened yogurt and less sugars and no artificial junk either. Remember, there is no quick fix to long-term weight loss and wellness. Monica

Whether u use this diet or another or none at all, w/o question the best yogurt is GREEK YOGURT. It's not a name brand but a general brand. It's unsweetened, so add some fruit if u want.

I hate to tell you, but it's the oreos and junk that is making you tired and hungry. For yogurt I use Dannon Lite & Fit. It is fat free but tastes really good. I buy the fruit flavored and the vanilla. I have lost 23 pounds so far. I cheated and had a couple of cookies a few days in and had a voracious appetite the rest of the day I could not satisfy. It's the bad carbs (cookies, crackers, breads) making you hungry and tired. I had to learn that the hard way. Stick with it. You won't be sorry. Drink lots of water. That's very important to flush the fat out as your body sheds it.
