Diets in Review Question

modifying ideal protein

jill Jones asked this question Mar 20th, 2011 3:47 am

I did the protocol pretty strictly for 7 weeks and lost 26 pounds. Then I became famished. Later found out I had 2 ear infections so that may have had something to do with needing more calories.
I have tried going back on IP and complied 100% for a week and now I am completely famished again. I don't think this is enough basic REE calories (resting energy expenditure.)

I am trying to find a way to do this program but with more calories daily. The consultant I have simply tells me to eat more vegetables. I am seriously hungry and vegetables aren't going to help that. I have wondered if you can just eat protein/veggies 3 times a day and use the IP foods for snacks with the supplements. That would be eating almost perfectly but why is that frowned on by IP people?

I have been in IP for 6 mo now and am almost done, I found after a few months I was famished all the time (yes I was following the diet to a T) but I felt like I needed more calories or something and then I discovered HEMP HEARTS, and my hunger was totally satiated. I have always been a big breakfast eater so I started eating 2-3 Tbsp's between breakfast & lunch. In 3 Tbsp of hemp hearts (eaten raw) there is approx 200 cal, 16grams of fat (almost 100% of which is high in omega's & efa's), and only 1.2grams of net carbs. Yes, of course my weight loss slowed but not very much at all as I went from consuming 900-1000 calories at day to 1100-1300 which still results in weight-loss. So yes of course they want you to get the most bang for your buck but it is no fun if you feel like you are starving all day. Good luck to you!

You can ask your coach to put you on the Alternative Plan which adds more carbs to the diet but is still limited. This is the plan we use for diabetics.
