An excellent question and one you'll find arguments for on both sides.

Our recommendation is to eat before and after a workout because your body needs the fuel to power you through to the end, and it needs to recover from everything that was expended. Think of your body like a car - you always fill up with fuel before you take off on the highway for a road trip, so why wouldn't you do the same for your body?
