Where are the calories on the 17 Day Diet?!

Jennifer asked this question Jul 25th, 2011 8:37 am

Hello everyone! I am so excited to see everyone's progress! It has really given me hope that I can lose these few pesky pounds.

My question is this: How am I supposed to be getting 1200 calories a day?! Thus far I have had 4 boiled egg whites and my greek yogurt with blueberries and I am honestly full. Without being inconsiderate to others, I am 128lbs, am 5'3" and only want to drop roughly 10lbs. There is no way I can eat as many vegetables as it requires to get my required 1200 calories.

Can someone please advise?

Dear Jennifer,

You are currently a healthy weight. At 5 feet 3 inches and 128 pounds, you have a BMI of about 22. Yes, you will still be in the "normal" range if you were to lose 10 pounds. We want to encourage everyone to live a healthy lifestyle, but I don't think a 1,200 calorie per day diet is right choice for you.

I would just follow the diet as directed. I'm 5'4 and usually maintain my weight at 1200 calories. If I want to lose weight, I eat around 800. I'm currently 118 and aiming for 110 which is what I usually weighed before having a baby. This is the accellerate phase which is temporary. You will increase your calorie intake when you get to the second, third and fourth phase. Good luck!

If you're in the accelerate phase, then I would just stick to the diet and not worry about caloric intake. If you're following the program, this phase is only 17 days. As you gradually increase carbohydrates through the second and third phase, your caloric intake will increase as well.
