Rick Santorum's Position on Health Care
2012 Presidential Candidate Positions on Health Care
Rick Santorum was a U.S. senator representing the state of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2007. He formally announced his candidacy for the 2012 presidential elections on June 6, 2011.
Santorum is both fiscally and socially conservative, and generally has voted against expanding government-funded health care programs. He was not a member of Congress when the 2010 health care reform passed, and it is unclear if he is in favor of repealing the bill like many of his fellow Republican party members.
Individual Issues:
- Voted "NO" on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education and contraceptives (2005)
- Voted "NO" on expanding enrollment period for Medicare Part D (2006)
- Voted "NO" on allowing patients to sue HMOs and collect punitive damages (2001)
- Voted "NO" on including prescription drugs under Medicare (2000)
- Voted "NO" on increasing tobacco restrictions. (1998)
- Opposes abortion

-The problem with how congress members vote is that there is always so much stuff wrapped up in a bill that has nothing to do with the bill. so its hard to say what they are really saying yes/no to.
