Erin Hamlin

Olympic Athlete Spotlight

Erin was introduced to the luge sport at the young age of 12, when her speed and balance quickly won her the attention of winter sport instructors. Her natural ability combined with her dynamic zeal has allowed this 22-year-old luger to break some serious records. In 2009 she became the FIL World Luge Champion, the first American woman to ever receive the title. This gold medal also marked the first time a non-German woman stood on the winning podium in any luge World Championship competition in almost 20 years. Her sites are set on that podium again at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. (Photo Credit NBC/USOC)
