One of many disasters that occurs in this classic is the smashing of mother's cake. Maybe Dick and Sally were doing her a favor and she didn't even know it! Now, if it were a homemade cake and she used half whole grain flour and replaced some of the butter with Greek yogurt, they'd definitely be in trouble! We also love the lesson that as mischievous as the kids may have been, at least they were up moving and playing instead of wasting away the rainy day in those two chairs.
