Of course, grapefruit is healthy: it's a good source of fiber and vitamin C. But it's not a miracle food that will melt away fat, like the grapefruit diet claims. This old fad diet will cause you to lose weight, but mostly due to that fact that followers consume less than 800 calories per day. The grapefruit diet dictates that you eat half a grapefruit with every meal, but it also proscribes many forms of nutrients. This may be one way to drop a few pound in a couple of weeks, but it offers no long-term weight loss solutions.
