What athletes love about their sport, whether it's running, cycling, or swimming, is the rhythmic and repetitive motions that their bodies thrive on for the physical results and their minds gravitate towards for the meditative effects.

But when the same kinds of motions hit the body over and over again, it can take its toll on muscles, joints, bones and ligaments leaving them misaligned. The over-utilization of certain muscles and under-utilization of others can over time create imbalances, which can lead to injury.

But yoga not only counters these developed asymmetries, but it also provides the athlete with a host of benefits that can improve their performance.
