About Me:

I am a middle school teacher for the Exceptional Children's Program. I turned 48 today and feel that I need to lose about 10 to 15 pounds. I am married and have two boys - one is 17 and the other is 12.

The goals I'm working toward:

  • I want to lose 10 to 15 pounds.
  • Give up my soda addiction.
  • Maintain a healthy weight and diet.

I haven't felt comfortable with my weight since:

I gained 20 pounds about 3-4 years ago just out of the blue.

My favorite healthy food:

I like fruit when someone else cuts it up. I like vegetables steamed or grilled.

My guiltiest pleasure:

I love chocolate even though I have given up eating it every day. I will eat potato chips when they are around with a sandwich. I drink sodas every day. I will drink water after 4:00 until I go to bed.

I'm inspired to live a healthy life because:

I know that the way I am eating is not right and I want to do better.

Healthy habits that work for me:

  • I walk a lot during the day within the school.
  • I park away from the place I am going.

My favorite activity at the gym is:

I was walking on the treadmill, 4.25 miles per day in 1 hour, until I quit for the summer.

The accomplishments I'm most proud of:

  • My children
  • Completing extra college courses
