Fresh off the press, the weight loss giant Jenny Craig just announced that its new spokesperson is actress Carrie Fisher. Fisher is probably best known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars as well as the stream of her best-selling books, like Postcards from the Edge.
The 5′ 1″ actress told People magazine that she is humiliated over her weight gain.
“I’m fat,” says Fisher, 54. “All the clothes in my closet belong to another chick. They have to make a new alphabet for my bra size.”
Her heaviest was 180 pounds, but thanks to starting Jenny Craig this past November, the famous author and actress is down 12 pounds. Like so many others who turn to food for comfort, Fisher opened up about how the death of her dad, singer Eddie Fisher, this past fall made Haagen Daz ice cream bars a form of solace, albeit a destructive one.
When Fisher appeared in Star Wars in 70s, she was a thin 105 pounds. Her goal as being the new Jenny Craig spokesperson is to reclaim a healthier relationship with food and to slim down.
Other Jenny Craig spokespersons include Kirstie Alley, Valerie Bertinelli, Phylicia Rashad, Queen Latifah, Nicole Sullivan and Sara Rue.
