We Love So Delicious Coconut Milk

When you open yourself up to trying healthier foods, you’ll discover an endless amount of new foods out there. Ignore the naysayers that say it’s nothing more than brown rice, carrots, and water, we find that the better the food is for you, the better it tastes! That’s true of So Delicious coconut milk and coconut products. In fact, we agree with the name that they are so delicious.

Whether you’re looking for a dairy-free product, or simply want to try a fresh new flavor, So Delicious more than has you covered.

Sure, there’s coconut milk, which uses organic coconut milk and organic cane sugar for a lightly sweet way to enjoy cereal or straight up in a glass. An 8-ounce serving has 80 calories and 6 grams of sugar, which is a calorie-counting bargain over the 91 calories and 12 grams of sugar in a glass of skim milk.

For something a little sweeter, try one of the flavored cultured coconut milks, in strawberry, chocolate or vanilla. These So Delicious beverages have 10 active and live cultures, making them a good choice for your tummy, as well as a delicious treat for yourself or the kids. It’s a treat indeed with 150 calories in the chocolate, which uses organic coconut milk, organic cane sugar and organic cocoa powder. The strawberry is a little more forgiving at 100 calories.

It doesn’t stop there. So Delicious has a broad product line featuring non-dairy coconut milk. The creamy sorbets, “ice cream” treats, “yogurts” and even creamers will give the lactose-intolerant, vegans and health-minded coconut lovers a wonderfully delicious reprieve from the standard cow’s milk dairy products.

If you’re researching their products, the So Delicious web site is the best place to do that, as it’s an abundant resource sharing the food label, ingredients, nutrition facts, allergens and which products are gluten free, organic, vegan and non-GMO.

The one caveat that we found with So Delicious is that you need to be a lover of coconut. In some products, like the fudge bars, the coconut flavor is very evident. In others, like the 35-calorie sugar-free original coconut milk (that comes in a handy “juice box” container), the coconut flavor is hardly noticeable, but definitely there for the more particular palates.

The So Delicious web site has a store finder, which is convenient if you’re trying to get your hands on some of their delicious products. We found ours in a Kroger and in a larger local health food store.

Besides a delicious new food to add to your diet, what are the health benefits of coconut milk?

  • A host of vitamins, minerals and electrolytes
  • Supports weight loss because the saturated fat is converted to energy rather stored as fat
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Helps manage blood sugar

If our word isn’t good enough and the health benefits aren’t, maybe Jillian Michaels‘ will be. She stumbled upon So Delicious at her grocery store and has been singing its praises ever since. In a press release from the company, with which she now works, she said “I loved [So Delicious] straight away. What’s not to love? It’s naturally energizing. And, the health benefits and the taste are outstanding. I put it in everything. My tea, my granola, in my smoothies, straight up — you name it.”

We couldn’t agree more. We so love So Delicious.
