This is the first year Maxim opened up its Hot 100 list to voters and you may be surprised who made the list.
Making it on this highly coveted list includes Lois from the cartoon Family Guy, who the magazine calls, “the sexiest housewife in Rhode Island.” Another surprise is Amanda Knox, the former murder suspect, coming in at number 93.
Who was the first man to make it on the list? After creating a huge write-in vote campaign, Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert from The Colbert Report landed at number 69. “Democracy isn’t always pretty,” the magazine said. “Sometime it’s downright handsome.”
Maxim editor-in-chief Dan Bova told The New York Daily News “The Hot 100 list is always unpredictable and exciting, highlighting beautiful celebrities and news makers alike.”
Who was considered the hottest of the hot? The number one slot went to Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex-girlfriend, Israeli model Bar Rafaeli. She told USA Today, “Every year, it’s a different girl that I look up to. For me to be among them, it’s an honor.”
As new hotties made it to the list, previous ones have fallen from the top ranks. This includes last year’s number one spot holder Rosi Huntington-Whiteley, who fell to number 11 this year. Also considering Rihanna is Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive, it’s surprising she only made it to number 32.
There has been criticism in the past on how the list lacks diversity but now with voters being able to inject their opinions, you really can’t criticize the magazine anymore. However, it is still hard to ignore the fact that so many of the women on the list are super skinny blondes or brunettes.
I was excited to see some of the ladies who made it to the list (like Emma Stone in position 7, Zooey Deschanel at 41, and Kellie Pickler at 72), but surprised by some who didn’t make it. For instance Beyonce, Adele, Michelle Obama or even Kate Middleton. I’m happy for Pippa Middleton, number 81, but I would have been happier to see her sister on the list.
