A pop star signed to be the spokesperson for Popchips! Today’s news that Katy Perry will now be representing the “healthy” chip brand seems like a pretty perfect match. As perfect a match as salt, vinegar, and crispy potatoes.
More and more music stars are branching out from behind the microphone these days and creating personal brands that extend from perfume to clothes, and apparently potato chips. In a press release from the brand they name Perry as not only a new celebrity representative but also an investor. The singer will be working with them as a creative partner.
She isn’t the first famous face to enjoy this tasty snack. Ashton Kutcher is featured in advertisements for the brand; Katy’s face will start donning ads this fall. The campaign will be their first national advertising push, and “will combine Katy’s unique style and personality with our mission to put the fun back in snacking,” said a release at Popchips.com.
Jillian Michaels, celebrity trainer formerly of The Biggest Loser, has also been a big voice for Popchips.
“I remember it was late at night, and I was craving a midnight snack without the guilt,” said Perry in the brand’s official release. “The bag stood out in the minibar, and I was pleasantly surprised when I read the back of the label and saw that it was a healthier choice. I was hooked after my first bite!”
The connection to Popchips was kind of the same for us. When we first discovered the snack we were also hooked. And how could you not be? Unlike all other potato chips these are popped, not baked or fried. They add heat and pressure to reduce the fat content to half of a traditional chip. The ingredient lists are simple and straightforward, recognizable things that don’t raise any red flags like fake colors, flavors, or other unnatural additives.
Popchips have only been around a couple of years, and they’re already available nationally in airports, grocery stores, and apparently mini bars!
