Children of the 90s rejoice… Gwen Stefani is coming back and it’s not in the junior’s section at Target. She and her band of more than 20 years, No Doubt, are finally headed back to the studio to release Push and Shove, their first album in a painfully long time.
It’s no doubt that she looks amazing. At age 42 with two kids and a non-stop rock-star career, she has struck the balance that even fellow Hollywood moms struggle to find, not to mention us ordinary folks.
Gwen is the cover model for the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar, and inside the insightful interview she says she’s tired of being asked how to get abs like hers. But everyone wants to know, because, look at them!
“There is no secret: You just have to eat healthy, work out, and torture yourself!,” said Stefani in the Harper’s interview. “But it’s more for my brain than it is for my body.”
Torture? Maybe she’s doing it wrong. Either way, it’s working for her. The fact that she’s making her mental health a priority should be as mimicked as trying to achieve her abs. More and more research points to the brain’s stimulation, including regeneration of brain cells, with regular exercise.
While Gwen may be tired of talking about her body, people aren’t tired of asking, and her brief but certain answer recommending working out and eating right should be heard by people everywhere. She may not be a dietitian or a therapist, but she seems to have the three major facets of weight loss and healthy living nailed down.
She has another facet figured out too – motivation. Everyone, even a famous singer and designer, needs a carrot to chase. For Gwen, it should come as no surprise that her motivation lies in her closet.
“I like to wear clothes too much, so I try to keep focused,” she said in the interview.
She also told Harper’s that she gets to the gym when she can fit it in her schedule that’s run a mock with being mom to Kingston, 6, and Zuma, 4, producing a new album and performing in new music videos, and even taking a family road trip in husband Gavin Rossdale’s tour bus.
Whether on his tour bus or her own, she follows a mostly vegan diet. Even in her dressing rooms her tour rider includes things like Silk soy milk, tea, and a variety of organic fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
Gwen Stefani is hot. If you love her body as much as her snappy hits, taking a page from her workout book seems like it looks like everyone else’s – workout, eat right, think right. And have a little fun while you’re at it!
