Jessica Biel’s Diet Secrets

Jessica Biel has one of the most envied bodies in Hollywood, and not because she is stick thin.

Biel rocks a beautiful figure that is both feminine and strong at the same time. She has muscles and curves in all the right places and she takes her health as seriously as she does her efforts to raise awareness about the global water crisis. In early 2024, Biel teamed up with environmental activists, like granddaughter of the late Jacques-Yves Cousteau and other actors, to trek up Mount Kilimajnaro in Tanzania to raise global awareness of the clean water crisis.

In last month’s issue of Glamour magazine distributed in the UK, Biel traded in her hiking boots for pumps to discuss her diet and fitness secrets.

Flax and Chia Seeds Pack Nutritional Punch

Flax seed oil and chia seeds are filled with nutritional benefits that are essential to your overall health. They are filled with both omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids that our bodies cannot make, so we have to get them from food sources.

There are some cautions to consider with flax seed oil, however. Because it is a fat, it can go rancid, and you must take the necessary precautions to avoid that. You need to make sure that exposure to heat, air and light are all minimal or avoided.

Courtney Crozier Loses More than 120 Pounds Despite Not Being Cast for Biggest Loser

Courtney is a contestant on Biggest Loser 11! See her profile: Biggest Loser Courtney Crozier

Courtney Crozier says she’s never been thin, but for the first time in her life, she’s on her way there. Just nine months ago Courtney, a 21-year-old psychology student from Valparaiso, Indiana, weighed 422 pounds. Today, she proudly shares that she’s lost 121 pounds, for a current weight of about 301. “I’m not sure where I want to be,” says Courtney in regards to a final weight loss goal. “I know I want to feel good. I don’t want to put a number on it.” The passion, drive and commitment she has for her health, it’s certain she’ll get there.

“I have always been the happy, fun loving girl, no matter what size I was. But after losing over 100 pounds, I am SOOOO much happier and more confident than I have ever been in my whole life. I can’t even imagine how I’m going to feel or how amazing life is going to be when I get to my goal weight!”

Her story is somewhat different than others. “I was so out of touch with my body and myself,” says Courtney, admitting that it was a bad place to be, especially at such a young age. She says the irony of her situation is that her father runs, and she works at full-time, a Dairy Queen, while her mother is the general manager of a health club. There used to be a lot of DQ food in her diet, but not anymore.

The big change came for Courtney, an avid Biggest Loser fan, when she reached out to a season seven contestant via Facebook. The contestant offered her a ticket to the live finale, and Courtney was “overjoyed” at the opportunity. (more…)

Eat a Bigger Breakfast to Lose Weight

health benefits of breakfastThe August issue of Marie Claire reports that there are even more reasons not to skip breakfast. Although some people say they feel less hungry throughout the day if they don’t eat in the morning, they’re really slowing down their metabolisms and making weight loss even more difficult.

A study conducted at the University of Alabama-Birmingham suggests that eating more fat in the morning helps the body metabolize the fatty foods you eat during the rest of the day. However, the study was conducted with mice fed a fatty diet at different times of day, so more research will need to be done to find out if the phenomena is true for humans as well.

Healthiest Fast Food Choices from McDonald’s, Chipotle and Panera

It’s not a shocker to say, but most fast food is not good for you. Rarely do you see fruits, veggies, beans, and whole grains. But life throws us curve balls, and sometimes we either pick up some fast food or battle a blood sugar nose dive. In this blog post, I’ll help you make the best of the fast food choices.

You can make smart choices and I’ve picked some of the best options. As a general rule, to avoid excessive fat and calories, skip the fried foods and opt for grilled. Get your sauce on the side, go without extra cheese, and get the smallest size possible. The only advantage of “super sizing” is if you plan to share the meal with someone else. Don’t drink any calories. That means no sweet tea, soda, or other sweetened beverages. Go for water, low-fat milk, a 4-ounce 100% juice, or a sugar-free diet beverage.

Ashton and Demi do the Master Cleanse for their Health

The Hollywood elite are at it again. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, the cutest of all cougar couples, have started the Master Cleanse. Ashton tweeted the intentions of he and his wife letting the masses know about their new regimen.

Some health food stores sell Master Cleanse kits, but most followers of the strict liquid diet prepare their own, using a simple recipe of water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. Also known as the Lemonade Diet and the Maple Syrup Diet, Beyonce Knowles has long been linked with this detox cleanse to help her maintain those svelte curves.

Six to 12 glasses of the concoction are drank throughout the day for up seven to ten days. Ashton’s tweet said that he and Demi would do it for ten. A restrictive diet like this can lend itself to binges. Ashton probably didn’t follow through, but his tummy was definitely craving something more than the Master Cleanse drink when he tweeted “9 hrs into the master cleanse. I want a steak, a beer, and a blow-pop. Hmmm this is gonna be rough.” (more…)

Gwyneth Paltrow Lost the Baby Weight with Tracy Anderson’s Help

Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals How she Lost the Baby WeightLike many women, Gwyneth Paltrow found losing weight more difficult after her second child than after her first. “After my first pregnancy, the weight had come off a little bit better but after the second one it was really stubborn. It was really hanging on,” the 37-year-old told The Press Association. She gave birth to her second child, Moses, in 2006, and found getting back to her ideal figure difficult. “It was not easy and, when I started it, it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done – but I really was seeing results so it motivated me to just work through it.”

Paltrow is planning on releasing a cookbook titled, My Father’s Daughter, in memory of her dad. But she didn’t let her love of good food get in the way of a healthy diet and fit body.

Paltrow enlisted the help of personal trainer Tracy Anderson to lose the baby weight. The actress insisted that her achievement is something everyone can do, “every woman can make time – every woman – and you can do it with your baby in the room.” Paltrow didn’t let her workout get in the way of spending time with her children. “There’ve been countless times where I’ve worked out with my kids crawling around all over the place. You just make it work, and if it’s important to you, it’ll be important to them.”
