The nutrition portion of 10 Pounds in 10 Days is very focused and designed to get you results fast when paired with the exercise portion. If you follow this program exactly as written, you will lose 10 pounds in only 10 days. Not many programs can offer that guarantee, but 10 Pounds in 10 Days does. There are a total of three different phases involved, with each lasting 10 days. The three key areas of focus for the program are eat, move and believe. The eating program is very easy to follow and involves absolutely no recipes. You will receive a 10 day grocery list in the book and the plan requires no thinking at all. If you are only striving to lose 10 pounds, you will follow the program for ten days at 950 calories per day.

If you plan to keep going, you transition to a 1,200 calorie diet for the next 10 days. Those trying to reach even higher goals can continue for another 10 days which raises the calorie level to 1,500 per day. Each 10 day phase features information about the superstar foods, grocery lists, a specific diet for each phase and a specific workout for each phase. Each 10 days you receive one menu to follow, so there aren’t a lot of different meals to prepare. This may be difficult for some that want variety in their diet. There are no substitutions available on the program, so it’s important to examine the foods involved and determine if you can eat them for 10 days at a time.

After the program, you are taught some principles for maintaining your weight loss while reintroducing certain foods back into your diet. During the 10 Pounds in 10 Days program, your menu is rather restricted though. Below is the menu for phase 1 of the 10 Pounds in 10 Days program and gives you a daily total of 948 calories each day.

  • Breakfast: 1 cup coffee with 1 packet Truvia or stevia and a dash of almond milk or 1 cup green tea; ½ medium grapefruit; ¼ cup plain oatmeal with 1 plain walnut; ½ liter cold water
  • Snack: 1 Craving Control Bar or 1 medium apple with 8 almonds; ½ liter cold water
  • Lunch: 2 slices whole-grain bread; ¼ medium sliced avocado; 1 tablespoon mustard; 1 cup sprouts; ½ cup fresh spinach; 1 slice beefsteak tomato; ½ liter cold water
  • Snack: 1 Craving Control Bar or 8 celery sticks (about 4 inches each) with 1 tablespoon almond butter; ½ liter cold water
  • Dinner: 1 precooked chicken breast (6 ounces) or pan-grilled chicken breast prepared with ½ teaspoon fresh minced garlic and a dash of salt and pepper in 1 ½ teaspoons olive oil; 1 cup broccoli (microwaved or steamed); 3 small new potatoes; ½ liter cold water
  • Post-Dinner: 1 cup decaf green tea with 1 additional bag herbal fruit tea

With 10 Pounds in 10 Days there are five different exercise techniques that will be used. All of the exercises you will do are outlined with photos showing you how to perform them using proper technique. The only equipment you will need include a jump rope, a set of light dumbbells and a set of heavy dumbbells for your weight lifting. The first technique you will use on this program is cardio-acceleration. This is a short but intense cardio burst in between your strength-training exercises. This is one of the quickest ways to burn fat in a routine that combines strength training and aerobics. The second technique you will be using is HIIT or high-intensity interval training. This alternates bursts of high-intensity and lower-intensity aerobic activity. This alternating intensity burns a lot of calories and the recovery periods in between draw energy straight from your fat stores, providing a two-pronged effect.

The third intensity technique with the 10 Pounds in 10 Days program is supersets. This training principle involves doing sets of two different exercises for the same muscle group back-to-back, then doing two more exercises for a different muscle group, taking no rest between. Intensity technique number four is the full-body circuit. This will be done twice during each ten-day period. The full-body circuit involves doing 10 or more exercises virtually nonstop, going from one exercise to the next and alternating muscle groups. This style of circuit training increases lean mass and aerobic capacity while reducing body fat. The last intensity technique you will be doing is called the rest-pause to 100 reps. This method involves stopping when you’ve reached failure in a set, resting for a short period of time and then continuing for as many reps as you can before failing again. This is continued until you have done a total of 100 reps.

Your workouts will take between 30 and 45 minutes each day and the book tells you to get them in no matter what. These workouts can be done at home or at the gym.

10 Pounds in 10 Days is one of the few programs available that offers you a specific goal that can be reached in a certain amount of time. If you follow the program exactly how it is written, you will lose 10 pounds in 10 days. This program does involve a commitment to the eating plan and you have to get in the workouts each day. At the start of the program you will be limited to 950 calories which may be difficult to adjust to. This program is one that provides results, but you will have to work for them.

The numbers on this diet plan don't add up. Dinner has 279 calories in total, this includes 6 oz chicken breast, 1 1/2 tsp olive oil, 3 small new potatoes and 1 cup of broccoli. According to my olive oil bottle, there is 130 calories in 1tbsp alone. This meal would be minumum 450 calories according to my research. Maybe this explains why some dieters are not losing the weight they expect. The meal plan is very nutrirous and sound, just higher in calories than stated. This may work for very overweight dieters, but for those of us trying to lose 10 Ibs, the daily allowances may be too high for quick weight loss.

I just started the Jackie Warner Lose 10 pounds in 10 days. I was excited to purchase the craving control bar but see that it is backordered until May! Is there anything comparable to this that I can use or will I be only able to eat apples/celery?

To Peanut,
Its not always about the number of calories you are consuming but also the type. After eating a reduced number of calories for any length of time you're body will simply adjust to your intake. Also, a reduced amount of food intake can put your body into starvation mode preventing it from burning fat at all. If you are eating lean protein, fresh fruit & vege with whole grain carbs (only for breakfast and lunch) you should find that you start to lose weight more quickly. Most people will lose weight based on a 1200 calorie diet without exercising.
