Jillian Michaels (born 18 February, 1974) is a fitness expert who gained prominence as a trainer on the NBC weight-loss reality series ''The Biggest Loser'' (USA). Michaels was the trainer for the red team until 2006, when she was replaced by Kim Lyons. She returned in 2007 as the black team coach, competing against Kim's red team and Bob Harper's blue team. Kim decided not to return for the spring 2008 season, leaving Jillian as the only female trainer. Along with Bob Harper, Jillian is also a trainer in the Australian version of the show. She began her career in exercise because she was considerably overweight before her teenage years (though not as much as the contestants she whips into shape now). As a young adult, her mother enrolled her in a martial arts class, which was a new beginning for Jillian. Thereafter she dedicated herself to helping the overweight transform their lives and their bodies for the better.

I was disapointed at the lang. last night
It seemed almost forced .....
I'm sure the ratings went through the roof
when Bob freaked out at Gizelle last season. My 7 year old even commented
on how Jillian was swearing more this year.... I hope it's all not for ratings .

I hate Jillian. I think she has a potty mouth and cannot control her anger. It's like she's on steroids. If she ever talked to me the way she talks to the people on Biggest Loser I'd taze her.

Was't satisfied there was no specifics for diabetics. I cancelled immediately ad they tried to charge me for weeks beyond their stated policy. Not happy when people try to take advantage thinking some will miss the fine print and not challenge them.

I have never watched bigger loser. I have Jillian's DVD's 30day shred and the 2 new ones. Fantastic workouts! The girl is really motivating!
I haven't read her suggestions concerning eliminating certain foods, but i totally agree that most foods are plain chemistry and very dangerously addictive. I have to admit that i love junk food and chocolate, and when i start it's impossible to control myself.
So i will totally agree with marlene, and add that i TRY to think as an alcoholic or drug addict or someone who quited smoking: there is NO moderation here. You cannot drink a small glass of alcohol when you are an alcoholic, you cannot have a little dose of drugs and you should not smoke "just one" innocent cigarette when you've quited! I don't know about you, but i have no will power! I cant stop at one slice of pizza, I' ll eat 10. There is no 20gr of chocolate for me, only 200gr. And then i' m miserable, for the next 3 days.
Fortunately, I'm 5'8" and 147 lb with an athletic body-type and my bad habits don't show much. However I'm sure that i have some kind of a disorder since calories, fat and carbs are constantly on my mind ( and then in my mouth... and then on my butt). So, better not having the junk in the first place.

I started following last season show with Helen being the Biggest Losser winner. The show totally motivated me and helped me stay focused with my personal weight loss journey. I was glued to the show every Tuesday evening. To date, I have lost 52 lbs and have 37 lbs to go ... I can't wait for the next season show. Listening to Jillian and Bob has helped me stay grounded, and I am more determined to reach my weight goal. Besides, if we don't take care of ourselves who will take care of our love ones that depend on us ....

I love your show but I have several medical issues. High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and rheumatoid arthritis in the hands, osteoarthritis in the shoulders, hips and knees. I want to move but find that I can't do much. Do you have any suggestions. By the way, my current weight is 246. I believe that I am already signed up for the newsletter. Any feedback with help.

Jillian is a strong personality and if you cannot handle it you should not spend a lot of time on her stuff. If you are a strong enough person to deal with her blunt honesty, then she is the gal for you. I find her a fresh breath of air in a sociaety that prides its self on passivity or avoiding the truth all together in the name of Political Correctness. It is doing no one favors. We have become a nation of enablers in all areas. I appreciate having someone not only tell it like it is, but also take you by the hand and help you through it.

I swear by the 30 Day shred video. Who doesn't have 20 minutes a day to work out? I have a 2-year-old son and a 6 week old daughter and I am able to find 20 minutes in my day, if I can do you it, stop kidding yourself, you can too!!

As for moderation Yes, that is very important, it is key along with excersize. But this notion that there is no food that is bad is rediculous. COME ON PEOPLE! I will say that there is no food that you eat that will make YOU BAD. YOU are not BAD for eating anything...that mentality must go if you struggle with that. But there MOST DEFINATELY IS FOOD THAT IS BAD FOR YOU!! And until people understand that...well, it will be a battle for them all their life. Just my thoughts...

As to Sarah's comment - I, too, have an eating disorder and don't find anything offensive or out of line regarding Jillian. I spent 6months in an eating disorder treatment center and agree with most things she says. Exercise is the key (no we dont have to do it 4 hrs a day as the contestants do) - changing my food is key and changing my attitude and how i deal with the world and the people in it are all keys.

As to your moderation comment - what's the point? I've never heard Jillian say anything different - she agrees. As far as avoiding certain foods - the best eating disorder centers in the world will tell you that one. There are certain foods I CHOOSE not to eat - nothing wrong with that.

Don't see your point at all about Jillian. Hell, she motivates me to get off my butt - think shes terrific.

i heard your comments on the people on biggest losers. . you should be fired off that show. calling them half dead and not normal. you are such a .

Marlene hits it dead on. Sarah you've done a great job. I'm not sure if you've read her new book, I'm almost done. Moderation is key but there is chemicals that wreak havoc on our bodies and by eliminating those we can lose weight easier without our bodies fighting us so much.

Sarah, I am really happy that you have made positive steps in combating an eating disorder. It is a very tough thing to do, and you should feel proud.

In response to your concern that Jillian Michaels is telling you to not eat some foods, I would recommend that you look more closely into the science on the foods she says to avoid. I felt so much healthier when I started eating like my grandfather ate. He was slender all his life, and lived well beyond most, doing his own gardening at 103 years old. When I mirrored his eating habits, in addition to feeling calm and healthy, the weight started dropping off. Note that the healthy feeling came first!

The foods I avoided were precisely what Jillian is recommending to avoid...those things that are chemically created (have you ever seen a cheeto or twinky grow?), hormonally altered, or processed beyond recognition. The body simply does not know how to handle these foods, so does not work as well. Jillian's premise is not to eat anything that didn't have a mother or didn't grow from the ground (or ocean), and to eat things in as close to their original form as possible. This doesn't prohibit food choices, as much as just changing the direction of the choice...like looking at the Eastern horizon instead of North...still plenty to look at, just a different direction. What makes it easier is not saying "I can't eat coolwhip" but saying "I prefer this organic yogurt today...it tastes better".

We should not be eating things like High Fructose Corn Syrup or Transfats..the science is very clear. Jillian goes further to say that listening to your body is key. Believe me, once a clean eating habit has been established, the body will tell you loud and clear, to maintain the effort. Your skin glows, you have an abundance of energy, and your weight hits an equilibrium on its own that prevents the unhealthy yo-yo dieting. Soon, you find you could care less that someone made a new strawberry-flavored whatever, when you are enjoying the real thing!

Having studied this eating regimen. and the science behind it, I honestly do not know why you have issue with Jillian's food recommendations. Eating a clean diet evens out the "brain chemicals" which can support healthy mental states in our crazy lives. I also have a degree in counseling psychology, and know that Jillian's food constraints would not be a setback for someone with an eating disorder. In fact, I see many aspects that would be extremely helpful in treatment.

Best wishes to your continued success. I know you will be able to help someone else with a similar challenge.

I agree with Sarah comment 100% I am a yo-yo dieter....In the past ....at 5'5" I was 100 lbs ....125....180....back down to 110....back up to 160...now I am down to 140.... I used to starve to lose weight ....or pig out and eat late....Oh....the drama of it all......now ....I eat in moderation.....splurge once in awhile....workout.....losing weight slowly but safe. It is dangerous for me to hear someone telling me I can't eat something. I would just starve. I was going to buy Julian wi fitness....however......I changed my mind.
