Penned by Prevention Magazine's senior editor Holly McCord, The Peanut Butter Diet is another cleverly packaged eating plan. It's sweet and tempting on the outside, but pretty much your normal low-calorie diet with moderate exercise as its filler. The plan targets 1,500 calories a day for women and 2,200 for men.
That's not to say that peanut butter as health food is without merit. Quite the contrary.
In 2004, researchers from Penn State University found that people who ate peanuts or peanut butter on a daily basis were better able to meet the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for vitamins and nutrients than those who didn't. Peanut and peanut butter eaters get more vitamins A and E, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and fiber. Nuts are also a bountiful source of monounsaturated fats, which have been linked to lower cholesterol. Just remember that you need to moderate your portions since peanuts are a very calorie-dense food.
Do You Know the Best Diets of 2025?
- The Peanut Butter Diet sings the praises of peanuts and peanut butter, health foods that most people enjoy
- Doesn't leave out exercise as a necessary component
- Very affordable
- The Peanut Butter Diet has no online component
- Not for those with peanut allergies
Your daily menu on The Peanut Butter Diet will include a whopping nine servings of fruit and vegetables. One sample menu for any given day is starting the day with peanut butter oatmeal, a bean burrito packed with vegetables for lunch, and a chicken vegetable stir fry for dinner. Snacks are, of course, also included in the plan.
The Peanut Butter Diet isn't all about your eating habits. McCord says that you need to find a way to fit 45 minutes of activity into your daily routine.
Cynics may chide The Peanut Butter Diet and others of this ilk as a clever marketing ploy. Because really, you can take nearly any tasty snack, call your diet that, and just assign standard healthy low-calorie recipes to the plan. But if you cool your jets a little, and lighten up, there's really nothing wrong with singing the praises of a healthy food, and building a plan around it.

+Sure there are a lot of concerns about peanutbutter allergies. But if you're not allergic then you don't need to be concerned! If you're not allergic then you're not allergic and that's the end of the story.

-The 45 minute daily workout regimen was really hard to follow cause I typically only get to work out 3 days a week. I need a plan with more flexibility - any thoughts on where I might look?

-There are so many people allergic to peanuts these days. Thanks Matt for showing us some alternatives since there is no online information to help guide us along, which I find a huge downfall

This diet is great for people who love peanut butter, but you can substitute regular peanut butter for something even better. Check out www.betternpeanutbutter.com
