Ben Davis, blogger and creator of my 120-Pound Journey, shares how he lost nearly half his weight, fell in love with running and how you can do the same in his new book, Do Life.
Do Life addresses many of the areas Ben struggled with on his journey to health, including overcoming addiction, the difficulties of running as an obese person, and what ultimately led him to hit rock bottom.
Ben goes on to discuss how he changed his life and transformed his health and hopes to share that same knowledge with readers who are also desperate to find health.
Ben outlines solutions for every problem, such as joining a 12-step program to overcome a food addiction, or volunteering if you feel disconnected from your community. He also recaps how he became a runner, which ultimately helped him get in the best shape of his life and become a marathoner.
Do Life seeks to challenge the misconceptions you may have about weight loss, even in extreme circumstances, and approaches the "whole person" rather than just an eating problem or lack of motivation to exercise.
He even shares a list of "runner commandments" to help you shape a healthy view of the sport, as well as training plans for a 5K, 10 K, half marathon and more, to help get you started running the smart way.
Ben shares some of his favorite recipes in the final chapters, as well as his thoughts on diet and how he has maintained his 100-plus pound weight loss.

"You don't have to go on a crash diet or become a professional chef in order to achieve this radical change in thinking...all you have to do is change your actions..."
Ben shares healthy eating advice as well as recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also includes a 10-step guide to nutrition for runners, which includes nutrient, fiber and vitamin recommendations.
Do Life is mostly focused on running, though Ben does touch on other ways to get active.
The book includes specific training guides on running a 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, sprint triathlon and ironman. It also includes a journal in the back so you can track your training and diet progress.
Do Life is a highly motivational book to help you get inspired to get healthy, and how to actually go about doing it. Ben's story is an inspiring one, and he goes into plenty of detail on the struggles and triumphs he experienced along the way.
Over all a very good read and inspiring book on heatlh.
