Have used this on and off, for many years! I like this and WW as my "go to" plans, for those times when I've somewhat "let myself go." I typically do not feel hungry using this way of eating--it is a great cleansing plan at first, and then after my body gets acclimated, it really becomes the perfectly operating machine that it is! I recommend it--even if you don't follow it perfectly, you still lose the extra weight (i did!).

I first tried this diet in 1995 and have been going back to it every winter since. I can't seem to sustain it in summer, and my B12 drops however by the end of warm weather I feel sluggish and lack motivation. Not long after that I pick up the diet and do it for about 3 months and feel fabulous again. I love fit for life, it's the only diet that drops me from 70kg to 60kg in 30-40 days!

It works. Fruit in morning, veggie's for lunch, meat and veggie's for dinner. Even though it says to limit meat, I consumed my normal amounts, (grilling or baking), and the diet still worked. The key to this diet is the combining. Stick to veggie's and any one thing, it will work and you will not be hungry. Success may also lay in prepping/preparing your food ahead of time so you always have something on hand, ready to eat to eliminate grabbing any snack. I keep a ready made salad in the frig at all times.

Best ever book about "dieting"! It worked for me many years ago! My skin and nails improved, my skin looked best ever! Easy to follow, I was never hungry or craved for something! I am on the it again, it is not a diet, it is a life style. I lost two kg in first two weeks and it keeps getting better and better! I highly recommend this way of living! Be creative, you do not need to stick to the book. Just follow the principles and way food is combined.

I read the book in the early 90's and it changed my life. Not only did I maintain a healthy weight but much of what it said about GMO, organic food, fluoride, etc. was on point. I don't follow the food combining perfectly but do feel that much of what they put forth for healthy living is true and only now much of it is coming to light. I feel bad that they were labeled quacks. This book changed my life!!! And, I am so healthy because of it.

I love it! I read the book at least 15 years ago and had amazing success with the diet. Fresh fruit and juice in the morning is wonderful once you get used to it. In a pinch frozen fruit with no added sugar also works. The book claimed that people who craved sweets would lose the craving if they ate the fruit as directed, and it worked! I was able to have ice cream in the house and never touch it. My lunches and dinners were usually 30% starch, think mashed potatoes or even stuffing with vegetables, or hot cornbread with butter, and the other 70% was salad and/or vegetables.Or even a bowl of vegetable soup. Now and then, maybe 1 time a week, I would have chicken or beef or fish for lunch or dinner in place of the starch. But can you believe it, the thing I missed most was hot dogs! Well, I think I like it, anyway. Mostly, I wanted to say thank you for writing about the diet in a way that is more truthful than what I found on another site.

They said all sorts of things that he didn't address, even though he did and ... it was just crazy.

I just started reading the original book, today, and, was trying to do a little online research to see what I could find regarding his references, and, also, reviews from people who have done the program.

It worked for the Hilton Head Metabolism Diet, which had stunning reviews on Amazon.com from previous dieters who said it worked so well they never gained their weight back.

This Fit for Life reminds me of that diet, in some of the things he said about what causes weight gain and about self esteem (at least), plus, many things I've read from various diet gurus, as they are called.

My family tried this diet 15 years ago. We all lost weight in several months, my father's cholesterol was back to normal and I was in a great shape. I also practiced aerobic exercises every day or every other day, and my father used to take long walks. I am willing to start again, because I could still eat what I wanted, and since then no other diet had such results for me. I don't believe in diets that restrict certain types of food or starve you, that's why I loved this one. You can still eat your favorite food, just to follow the basic rules regarding the combinations. Maybe the science did not find any logic in the rule not to combine carbohydrates with proteins, but our experience shows that it works. Eating less processed food that has no extra sugars, fat of chemicals is always a good choice. The way you cook your food is also important - no fried food and no unnecessary oil.
