BACKGROUNDBACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Home Bistro, now under ownership of the popular DineWise brand, is a chef-prepared meal-delivery service that takes all of the shopping and prep work out of your hands. While many meal-delivery programs are designed to help you lose weight, Home Bistro has a variety of foods that you can receive at home but not all of them are low-fat, low-carb or low-cal.

In order to help you choose dishes that fit within your health goals, Home Bistro has a Lighter Side menu option which features meals with 500 calories or less. There are also two vegetarian options, and a small handful of low-carb, low-fat or diabetic meals.

Home Bistro meals are priced individually or per serving, not as a packaged plan like other meal-delivery programs do. However, the the Lighter Side program does offer a week-long program for two. Each of the meals (including breakfasts, lunches, dinners, sides, appetizers or desserts) are delivered to your door flash-frozen in a vacuum-sealed package and require that you pop in the microwave or heat them on the stove before eating. Once you place your order, you'll receive your meals within 2-5 days via UPS.

You can also choose among a few low-carb meals, diabetic meals, vegetarian entrees, low-sodium meals, low-fat and low-cholesterol, but these specific categories are limited to 10 meals or less.

Lighter Side options are priced and served per serving which feeds one adult. Options include nut-crusted salmon served over lemon mint tabouli, golden butternut squash soup, chicken cacciatore served over whole-wheat spaghetti, shepard's pie served with haricot verts, grilled vegetable stuffed ravioli and many other gourmet meals.

The nutritional information is provided for each Lighter Side meal and includes calories, protein, fat, carbohydrate, fruit, vegetable and grain exchanges.

Overall the food is tasty. Some of the Chicken dishes are dry but otherwise really good food and nice portions. I would recommend.
