Created upon the adage that "it's easy to know what to do, but it's difficult to do it," iChange is an online team of weight loss experts who will provide guidance, support, and accountability to help you make long-lasting change to your life.
After completing a simple online questionnaire that includes such information as your current health status, weight loss goal and contact information, you are then immediately paired up with an iChange weight loss expert who is available online. In addition, you receive an easy-to-read display of your current weight, weight loss goals and a breakdown of the calories, carbohydrates, proteins and fats you need in order to safely and effectively meet your weight loss goal.
The iChange experts strongly encourage tracking your weight and measurements each week, keeping an online food journal, logging your workouts and reaching out to other dieters. All of these tools are provided on the iChange website.
You can communicate with the iChange program via your iPhone or through text messaging in addition to a computer with Internet access.

With a personal weight loss expert, you will create a customized diet plan that meets your own specific dietary needs. Not sure how to choose a healthy meal while dining out on Mexican food? Simply contact your weight loss counselor and she will be on hand to offer the guidance, support and information you need to stay on track with your diet goals.
Since this one-to-one relationship requires honesty and trust, you must be willing to openly discuss food cravings and eating issues with your counselor so that she can help you address them. In addition, you must be willing to make daily contact with your diet counselor as she will be monitoring your progress daily and intervening at critical times, such as when you have gained a few pounds.
Each diet will look different for each iChange diet member. The daily tracking of what you eat and the clear charts that show how many calories to consume and how many calories you have consumed are educational tools that support your progress so that you can create long-term changes.
You are encouraged to log physical activity onto your online iChange profile every day. You will also work with a weight loss counselor to discuss a fitness plan, if you don't already have an existing routine, and make changes to it so that you can keep your weight loss journey always moving in a forward direction.

+I do have a comment about your "con" of lack of anonymity. One of the things I like most about iChange, is the faceless communication from the luxury of me even sometimes emailing iChange in my pajamas.. I have been on the program for 7 weeks and am 26 lbs lighter, my digestive system is in great shape and I have more energy than I have had in a long time. Although I submitted my name, my registered nutritionist, Linda Miner, only communicates with me via emails. I do not have to meet in her office with other waiting clients, be one of a group sitting in a meeting that is a "one diet fits all" type of thing. My nutrition plan was created just for me and is monitored and adjusted several times a day based on what I do as an individual. I have a blog called where I have shared how I have progressed in this program. For me, it's all good.

I have been on the iChange program for just over 7weeks with Linda Miner, a registered nutritionist, and have lost 26 lbs. I am wondering about your con statement regarding anonymity. Admittedly, one does state one's name but there is no walking into an office or a meeting so there is not that face to face judgment. In fact, the ease of just jumping on the computer in pajamas is a big pro for me. There is constant interaction with your nutritionist and it is unbelievably individualized. If you want to follow how I have done on this program I have a blog. It will tell you a lot about how it has helped me. Biggest pro for me....I am eating great food that I don't weigh, measure, that has not been freeze dried, or portion controlled. I am not hungry...Now that's a life plan...not a diet!

I have been with iChange for almost two months and I have lost about 12 pounds and feel a lot better. I would have lost considerably more weight if I was a bit more disciplined :). Given my schedule, travel, kids, etc I have real trouble sticking to diets. And, I have to admit that I have not be "perfect" with iChange. Having said that, the program is all about HEALTH and eating healthy and feeling good. So, it makes more sense to me than other diets. And, when I slack off, there are a team of people at iChange who gently remind me to get back on track. So, I give iChange a big thumbs up!

+I have loved iChange. I have been a member for just over two weeks and have successfully lost weight. I have learned an incredible amount of information about how my body burns fat, protein and carbs and that alone, has helped me make better food choices. As a result, I am losing weight, I feel better and I am satisfied.
posted Nov 12th, 2009 2:07 pmI especially like the accountablity component. I have a certified nutritionist who checks in with me a couple of times a day. She sends recipes, helpful tips and encouragement. She writes meal plans and offers food substitutions.
The two best things about iChange and working directly with a certified nutritionist are 1) She is a real person with a real life (kids, job, husband, etc.) and understands the strain of those things on our lives. 2) She is right there 'in my computer!' I don't have to go anywhere to do this and I feel totally accountable to her.

+This is the only place online that I've found where you can work with a real nutritionist. They have a free program, which connects you with an iChange Guide (I had Katie who was great). Katie helped me set goals, and from the number of messages I received from her, seemed to be watching me every day, which is exactly what I need. However, she's not a certified nutritionist, so she can't give me specific meal plans, but the site does give you access to nutritionists that can do that for me. This site is a great deal for anyone who wants personal help.
