Pure Barre is a workout technique that resembles the workout of professional dancers. The workout allows you to burn fat and gives you a lifted bottom, toned arms, thin thighs, and flat abs.
Pure Barre was created by Carrie Rezabek, a trusted fitness professional dancer and choreographer. Pure Barre workouts are conducted in a licensed Pure Barre studio locations or via a DVD for those that aren’t in the area of a studio.
Currently there are locations in Alabama, California, Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee and coming soon in North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
The Pure Barre workout works your entire body and protects your joints. It’s safe and effective and is a very popular fitness choice among new moms who just gave birth and are looking to get back into shape.
The workout gives you the long lean look of a dancer through strength workouts followed by stretching. Each workout is approximately one hour long.

Pure Barre studios and videos focus specifically on workouts. There is no particular diet to go with the exercise program.
Pure Barre is a total body workout regimen. You can either take classes at one of their many studios, or workout with the DVDs at home.
The exercises are done on a dancing barre similar to those that ballet dancers use. Each workout contains elements of ballet, pilates and props like light weights, exercise bands and medicine balls. Each strength section of the workout is followed by a stretching section in order to create long, lean muscle without bulk.
Whether you’re working from the DVD or in the actual studio, Pure Barre workouts target the areas that many women want to change like the abs, thighs and buns.
Students see results from the Pure Barre workout in just ten classes. Classes are set to DJ-style dance music.
If you are looking for a workout that will give you the long and lean body of a dancer, Pure Barre may be just the workout for you. This effective workout targets your problem areas and allows you to tone and tighten your body. You will see results quickly and the workout is easy on the joints.
But just be warned that if you're looking to unleash your inner prima ballerina complete with ballet shoes and classical music, you won't find it here. Pure Barre incorporates ballet-esque moves; it will not teach you the fundamentals of ballet.

+I took my 5th PB class yesterday. I'm trying to take full advantage of the first month introductory $100 unlimited classes. The first day, I was so very sore. Yesterday, I worked just as hard but felt less wiped out and tighter. I'm not a gym rat in any sense of the word. I'm a middle aged mom who has quite a lot of weight to lose and flab to tone. Most women in the class I go to are lifelong exercise devotees, running, yoga, cycling, triathlon training, who are looking to add to their toolbox, so it is somewhat intimidating to be huffing and puffing alongside others who are mostly already fit and slim. That said, though, I have faith that PB will help in my own quest for a better, healthier, happier body. In addition to PB, I also take two actual ballet barre classes and I go for long, romantic walks with my dog. I also try to watch what I eat, but I'm less vigilant about that piece than I probably should be. I'll report back periodically and tell everyone how it's going for me.
