Soy Protein Concentrate/Isolate: Refined soybeans which have been defatted and hulled. It is considered a complete protein as it has all the essential amino acids.

Soy also offers phytoestrogens, which can potentially convert into estrogen hormones. This can be potentially harmful l to both men and women. A study by the NC State University has concluded:

“soy contains endocrine disrupting compounds”

This can potentially lead to birth defects developmental issues, and cancerous tumors.

Soy also has goitrogens which can potentially suppress the thyroidand lead to weight gain. Another issue has to do with the natural trypsin inhibitors, which means it can make the digestion of protein less effective, and it may in fact suppress the amount of protein taken.

Our experts have compiled a top 10 listof the best meal replacements in the link provided here.

Yet another issue with soy is due to the phytates. This can actually block the intake of minerals and vitamins in the body.

L-leucine:An essential amino acid that must be obtained via diet. It is found in foods such has soy, beans, meat, dairy, eggs, and other foods.

Since it is found in many foods, it typically does not need to be supplemented unless of a rare deficiency.

Rice Protein Concentrate:Easily digested vegetarian form of protein which is often separate from its carbohydrate base. It needs to be mixed with other forms of protein since it is low in the amino acid lysine.

Since it’s easy to absorb and is rapidly digested, taking large amounts can potentially lead to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and digestive issues.  Taking rice protein on its own is also known to lead to amino acid deficiencies.

Natural Cane Sugar:Sweetener extracted from the sugar cane. It has trace minerals, and it is used to provide a sweet flavor to foods.  The body breaks this down to glucose and fructose and it can have harmful effects on metabolism.

There’s a total of 10 grams of sugar per serving of the soy-vanilla flavor. This is an exceptionally high amount, as sugar has no nutritional value and can only make weight loss more difficult. Sugar has also been shown to make one more hungry, so it can take away from the appetite suppressing effects this shake intends to provide. Click the link to see a list of the highestrated meal replacements for weight loss.

EDITOR’S TIP: Combine this supplement with a proven meal replacement such as 18Shake for better results.

Shaklee 180 Quality of Ingredients

Ingredients like soy have shown the possibility for unwanted effects. There’s also the problem with the high amount of calories, sugars, and high sodium. There’s a total of 170 calories per serving, and 10% of the daily requirement for sodium. High sodium can lead to water weight gain and calories should be reduced when one is looking to lose weight.

At 2shakes a day you are receiving 340 calories, which is significantly more than the average meal replacement shake. Also added is a high amount of carbohydrates at 18 grams per serving.

The sugar at 2 shakes a day amounts to 20 grams. The advised daily limit by the Heart organization is no more than 24 grams for women, and a limit of 36 grams for men. This shake is dangerously close to the advised daily limit for both sexes. The link provided has a list of the top 10 ranked meal replacements.

The Price and Quality of Shaklee 180

A 30 serving pouch sells for $91.20 when purchased via the manufacturer. For people who become members the price is reduced to $77.50, though as you’ll see on the “Business of Shaklee 180” there have been issues with people being charged for unsent products.

For the price paid at 2 shakes a day the daily price would be $6.08. This makes it one of the priciest meal replacement shakes available. Many of the ingredients are also already found in other meal replacements. The main ingredients which are soy and rice protein as well as the amino acid l-leucine which is found in many whole foods for cheaper.

There’s also a lot of sugar added to this shake, and there have been issues with soy protein due to its potential harming effects. The overall quality for the price paid is not very good. Most of what’s added can be either replaced by whole foods, or it’s not considered wholesome. Click the link provided to see a list of the top ranking meal replacements.

Conclusion - Does Shaklee 180Work?

Shaklee 180 offers a high protein meal replacement shake made with soy and natural cane sugar. The company makes sure that their soy is free of GMO’s, and it does have a wide array of vitamins and minerals. There have been a few customer complaints about side effects and a lack of weight loss. Some also found it much too sweet. The shake has a high amount of sugar at 20 grams per 2 shake serving. This can make it harder to achieve sustained weight loss. for the past 4 months I have been using shaklee products, one shake in the morning along with one at lunch, I also slowly added the metabolic boost, starting 1/2 pill a day eventually reaching 2 pills a day last month as initially I had jitters when I took the full dose. in mid may I weighed 236 lbs and today sept 26 i am 205lbs on the scale. I supplemented this with exercise also going 3 times to the gym a week. I am very satisfied with this product, difficult at first to switch from bacon and eggs breakfast to a shake but eventually I adapted. Expensive but if you take out the cost of breakfast and lunch, it is basically the same cost. Highly recommend if you can stick to the plan of 2 shakes and one regular dinner.

Lost weight and kept it off. Have lost tons of weight on other programs but usually weighed more a year later than when I started. Last year I did the Cinch plan and have kept it off. Just ordered the 180 program (updated Cinch) and ready to get on track and take my weight down another 10-15 lbs this year.

My weight was 170 in July 07. I started the Cinch program that month. I stayed on it and exercised every day and by September 07 I had gone from a size 12 to a size 4, weighing 125. I did eat a salad at the dinner meal, that seem to really help a lot. I got fabulous results and I still use it.

I've never felt more satisfied - I'm not hungry for hours - it's easy to follow - it's a Cinch! Love this stuff!

I use this program to both lose and maintain weight loss. The program is the best way to start but once you have lost the weight or just need energy during the day, I buy the prodcts seperately. I love, love, love the energy tea mix.

I ordered the Cinch program, and figured I would hate the protein drinks and bars. Well, I am ready to completely invest in this program. The shakes are delicious and makes me feel like I am cheating, which helps me because I always cheat on a diet anyway, hence no progress. So, now I can cheat and get away with it. It is great you should try it. I am not a distributor, but thinking about it.

Cinch plan work and you can replace two meals with two shakes, not just two meals for one shake. I started the program 6 weeks ago and I've lost 18 pounds. I also do 15 miles or 1 hour bike ride a day plus 30 minute eliptical training 3 times a week. I have one rest dday with no exercise. I have a normal dinner, but have cut out (temprarily) any alcohol an excess sweets. If I take the kids for ice scream, I have frozen yogart.

I've used Shaklee's Cinch program and have found it to be user friendly and effective. It works! I liked the software, too. It helped me to see where I was lacking in protein but overdoing the carbs, and it had many good recipe ideas. I lost weight and enjoyed the products and was not hungry when I followed the plan!
