Yield: Serves 6 - 1 square per serving.

Ginger adds a hot, spicy sweet flavor to this delicious crisp.

Apple filling:
6 baking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced ( food processor works well)
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
2 tablespoons cornstarch

Crisp topping:
3 lowfat apple cereal bars
1/2 cup graham crumbs
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

Combine all ingredients for apple filling in a large bowl and mix well. Preheat oven to 350º. Place apple filling in square baking dish. Place all ingredients for crisp topping in food processor or blender. Pulse until consistency is that of coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the top of the apples. Cover the dish and bake for 45 minutes until apples are tender and bubbly.
