Green Tea Spiked Applesauce Recipe

Get a dose of The 17 Day Diet's green tea with this simple homemade applesauce.

Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients

Did you know that apples help prevent weight gain and even aid weight loss? It’s true. They contain pectin, a substance that delays stomach emptying, keeping you full longer. Pectin also lowers cholesterol almost as effectively as drugs do. - Dr. Mike Moreno

  • 4 medium tart green apples, preferably Granny Smiths, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2/3 cup strong, brewed green tea
  • 2 teaspoons Truvia
  • 4-inch cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a bubble over medium heat. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are very tender, about 30 minutes.

  2. Discard the cinnamon stick.

  3. Mash into a thick purée with the back of a wooden spoon.

TIP: The applesauce can be served warm or cold. Leftovers can be stored in a covered container for up to 3 days. Even better, store in one-serving ramekins or containers.
