Biggest Loser 12 Premiere Recap
Season 11's Courtney introduces you to the new contestants, trainers, and game-changing twists for Biggest Loser 12.
Don't miss any of our Biggest Loser 12 Coverage.
The Biggest Loser season 12 kicks off with 15 contestants in the middle of a desert! No one is around except the 15 people with grey shirts on with huge black numbers in the middle of them. The gorgeous Alison Sweeney shows up and she tells the contestants that this is the beginning of their new journey. They are split into three teams: the 20 somethings, the 50+ people, and the middle-aged team. It’s a pretty interesting twist really and truly a battle of the ages!
The three trainers, Bob, Anna, and Dolvett, are introduced and the contestants are then told they have to run a one-mile race to pick their trainer. Of course, the young team looks the strongest and starts with a great lead. The older team is going a slow and steady pace, but they also look strong. The middle team pulls out the win in the end though, and of course, chose Bob as their trainer and have now become the new black team. The young team comes in a close second and chose Dolvett and they are now the new red team. The older group is last, but surely not least, as all of the other contestants run to them so they can all cross the finish line together. It’s a beautiful moment to watch. This team will train with Anna.
The biggest twist is after the race when Alison tells the contestants that every single one of them will have to run a marathon at the end of the season. No matter which week they go home, week one or week 12, whoever wins the marathon is an automatic finalist!
What an awesome twist. Then the workouts start and, of course like typical Biggest Loser, so does the crying, puking, and complaining. The young team does look very strong and Dolvett has them doing workouts on the treadmill. Cardio, cardio, cardio and that’s so necessary. Bob is kicking his team’s butt and making sure they push past their limits, which is also so important. The older team seems to be struggling a little bit because they can’t work at the same intensity that the other teams can, but they are doing what they can do and that is all that matters.
The weigh in comes and they weigh in from oldest to youngest. The blue team pulls out 49 pounds together, with Bonnie only losing 4 pounds and Debbie losing 6. Bob’s team, the black team, pulls out a whopping 126 pounds as a team and that makes them safe. Dolvett’s red team collectively lose 89 pounds and that also makes them safe. Unfortunately, Anna's blue team will have to send someone home, and they ultimately choose Debbie. She is doing great at home and looking and feeling fabulous -- which is what matters most.
All in all, watching all of the contestants this season in this first episode is so inspiring! They all seem like great people with huge hearts and personalities and I can’t wait to get to know them better. Vinny’s personality is radiant and I think America will fall in love with him. Jessica looks strong from the moment she stepped foot on that ranch and is a force to be reckoned with. Every single time Ramon comes on the screen he makes me crack up! Having a great sense of humor will surely take him far in the game. You have to be able to laugh sometimes while you’re sequestered away from everything! Bonnie and Johnny are just adorable and clearly work to their limits and that is admirable. John has a voice that will make you stop in your tracks and just listen. Joe seems to be such a sweet man and so caring. Jennifer and Courtney are both drop dead gorgeous and I cannot wait to watch them transform! Becky reminds me so much of my mom in so many ways and honestly seems like one of the strongest contestants this season, even though she’s on the smaller side. Antone just wants his life back and he is sure to get it at the rate he is going. Coach Mike is a fellow Hoosier so I already love him! Season 12 is sure to be a great season yet again!

Debbie... Not. Cool. I feel like she wrote her own ticket out of the ranch w/ her attack on Bonnie. Good riddance. The house feels like it has a positive energy this season, and we don't need people like her messing with that vibe.

-If this woman likes running so much and can run full marathon, why does she need a help to get fit? Obviously she's been on and off the diet so often and yo-yoing. I hope she will be successful anyway. But this show really sucks. Perhaps she will gain weight again so that she can be in show again. What a cruel world!
