Alessandra Ambrosio’s Shaping Up for a Healthy Pregnancy

If Alessandra Ambrosio‘s baby bump is five months along, then she was barely in her second trimester when she did the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in November. It may have been the biggest secret of the night, as Ambrosio admits she told no one about her second pregnancy. The supermodel showed off her new bump while modeling this past weekend in San Paulo, Brazil.

We praised her pre-runway diet as she prepared for the lingerie brand’s annual televised fashion show. She doesn’t skip meals, indulges her cravings sometimes, and gets plenty of exercise. All of this is advisable for any woman, but these habits get top marks for a pregnant woman.

During her first pregnancy, with now 3-year-old daughter Anja, she apparently allowed herself to indulge quite a bit. Her trainer Leandro Carvalho said, at the time, that Ambrosio “had to pay the price” after enjoying too much Brazilian food and ice cream. She was ready for the 2019 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show just three months after giving birth. How so? She used Carvalho’s Brazilian Buttlift workout, a fitness DVD program you can do at home that uses techniques like squats, lunges, ballet and the Brazilian fighting style capoeira.

Her love of sushi might have to be put on hiatus until the new bambino arrives, as pregnant women should limit the amount of fish they consume due to mercury. However, her love of eggs for breakfast should remain a priority. Alessandra is also a yogi, a practice she should continue, at the advisement of her doctor, throughout her pregnancy. Prenatal yoga aids everything from labor and delivery to post partum recovery, and in between it provides relaxation, pain relief, muscle strength, and more.

She’s not the only supermodel known for delivering babies one week and seemingly strutting a red carpet the next. Heidi Klum has had four children in the past seven years and the only proof are her happy family photos. Five weeks after delivering her youngest, Lou Samuel, Klum hosted the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in a leather dress that hugged all of her curves. In 2005, she walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show two months after delivering her son Henry. She’s known for using cardio, circuit training, and a regimented diet.

We’ve no doubt Alessandra’s healthy habits before getting pregnant will help her thrive throughout the remainder of her pregnancy; So much so that she’ll likely be fit enough to don those Angel wings again in November.
