It is incredibly refreshing to have public figures, celebrities, and actresses who speak out against the body obsession that runs rampant in Hollywood and throughout our country. In this day and age in particular, it is high time we have women to look up to who take care for themselves, but also defy the traditional look of a Hollywood starlet.

Who do we love? Women who just don’t care how they are perceived. Comfortable in their own skin. And they don’t need your permission or approval to do so. Seriously, these are our heroes.

The voluptuous star of Mad Men, which wrapped last night in a blaze of glory, has been praised for years about her very true-to-form hourglass figure. What we know and love about Hendricks is that she is happy, comfortable, and strong in her shape.

“Back when I was modeling, the first time I went to Italy, I was having cappuccinos every day, and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous! I would take my clothes off in front of the mirror and be like, ‘Oh, I look like a woman.’ And I felt beautiful, and I never tried to lose it, because I loved it.”

The Australian funny lady is one of the stars of this summer’s box office smash Pitch Perfect 2. Wilson is hilarious, talented, and an extremely important asset to the body image standards conversation. Wilson is not a size 0, and plays a character called “Fat Amy,” so clearly her size is a talking point. With grace and beauty, however, Wilson stands up to the discrimination.

“I don’t really care what I look like that much, and I think women out there should just be happy with the way they look. They shouldn’t really try to conform to any kind of stereotype. Just be happy and hopefully healthy.” (more…)

We lost some too soon (Robin Williams), are sending some to prison (Teresa Giudice), and saw many bring new babes in to the world. We also saw some lose and gain, for better or worse. The year brought to light a new roll of celebrities who now have before and afters to show off.

Tony Dovolani Reveals Betsey Johnson’s Fitness Regimen from Dancing with the Stars

We stole Tony Dovolani off the dance floor for a little Q&A about the super cool world that is ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Not only does did he have the uber fabulous job of being Betsey Johnson’s dance partner, but he also serves as the show’s dance and health expert. Portion control, his personal fitness regimen, and his personal secret to health were all up for grabs. Even cooler than that, he has a lot to say about how the sassy 72-year-old fashion icon got herself in what might be the best shape of her life. Despite what the judges may think — he scores perfect 10s with us!

Q: Congratulations on your success this season with Betsey Johnson, we were all sad to see you go! 

A: Thank you! I feel like we were just hitting our stride. She was really improving and our journey was cut short. At least we ended on a high note and left people wanting more!

Q: What stood out to you this season as a dancer and wellness expert?

A: Betsey was a great example for me to show what I’m capable of: making them healthy and changing their life. She could do a cartwheel and splits when she came in, but would be out of breath right after. I was able to work with her on her diet and fitness to help her improve.

Q: DWTS seems to be one of the most beneficial weight loss methods for celebrities. Why do you think that is?

A: The #1 reason is because the body stays active. Dancing involves every single muscle in your body. When you start exercising that much, nutrition naturally falls into place. Your body starts asking for healthier things. You can’t dance when you over eat. It forces you to have a healthy life. (more…)

Dancing With the Stars: Danica’s Out, Candace Carries On

This Dancing With the Stars recap comes with a heavy heart because Danica McKellar and Valentin Chmerkovskiy were eliminated. Though I am very openly rooting for Candace Cameron-Bure, it is still sad to see McKellar go. I love Winnie Cooper! The tango and samba routine during the celebrity dance duel was just not enough to make the cut. So bye bye!

Besides that big elimination, the big excitement came from the elaborate dances performed on this week’s episode. Also, Amy Purdy, who had a serious back and shoulder spasm last week, really pulled everything together once her doctors gave permission to let her keep on dancing. (Purdy had a very scary back injury while on the air, though she certainly pushed through the injury and was able to dance a very sexy tango with her partner Derek Hough.) Dancing With the Stars Season 18 Update: Who is in the Lead?

It has been a couple of weeks since we have checked in with our Dancing With the Stars crew, so let’s get to it! Exciting things are happening on the dance show, including some switch-ups!

For those of you who have not previously watched Dancing With the Stars, first of all, you’re missing out. Secondly, a “switch-up” is when the partners—celebrity and dancer—have to mix up their duos. It’s often tragic because some people just go so well together (and sometimes the new pairings feel like a major miss-match)! But enough of that, let’s check in on how the couples are doing.

Billy Dee Williams quit the dancing competition due to medical reasons, and Sean Avery has also been eliminated at this point. Besides those two, everyone else is still dancing strong.

This week, Meryl Davis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy led the highest scorers with their killer Argentine Tango. They wowed the crowd and the judges alike. In fact, Davis is leading the whole pack with the highest point total, so apparently switching it up didn’t shake her success at all. (more…)

How far we have come, my fellow Dancing With the Stars fans. Right? Last night was the premiere of Season 18 of the popular dance show, and I can hardly believe it! Here’s a short summary of all that happened, in case you missed it:

Chaz Bono’s 60-Pound Weight Loss Praised by Dr. Travis Stork

Chaz Bono has achieved the goal he set last November. At last weekend’s GLAAD awards, Bono revealed his 6o-pound weight loss. He credits his weight loss to changing his diet, using the Freshology meal delivery plan and staying active.

The former Dancing With the Stars contestant says that he is still taking dance classes and as also started martial arts training. Bono started his current weight loss journey with the help of The Doctors co-host Dr. Travis Stork, who recommended that at 250-pounds, 5 foot 5 1/2 inches, Bono should lose 5o pounds to 80 pounds.

“Everyone at The Doctors is proud of Chaz’s progress and we look forward to sharing his continued progress in the fall,” Dr. Stork told DietsInReview.com.

The child of singing sensations Sonny and Cher, Bono has struggled with weight his entire life. During his meeting with Dr. Stork he said, “Because I’m transgender, I was always completely disconnected from my body. I really lived in my head and just kind of tried to ignore everything from the neck down.” (more…)

Kelly Osbourne Reveals The Secret Behind Her 60-Pound Weight Loss

Kelly Osbourne, daughter or rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, has a few secrets to reveal yet about her 60-plus pound weight loss. The lavender-haired star is gracing the cover of UK’s Cosmopolitan Body due out December 27, looking slim and toned in a revealing bikini. In an interview with the publication Osbourne, 28, revealed the one simple trick behind her trim physique and healthier outlook on life: Self love.

“People think I lost weight and that’s what made me happier. That’s not true: I had to learn to love myself first,” she said. “Losing weight was just one benefit of putting the hard work in and sorting myself out on the inside first through therapy.”

Osbourne’s outward transformation began in 2024 during her stint on Dancing with the Stars when she experienced a 50 pound weight loss. In an interview with Shape Magazine the star said was able to drop down to a size 2 thanks to a high-protein, low-carb diet in addition to a vigorous dance schedule and weight training. “I can’t believe I just did that and my body looks this good,” she told Shape.

To lose the weight Osbourne admits there was no one simple trick and it was all about getting to the gym and eating right. As reported by People Magazine, the fashionista is watchful of her diet and enjoys indulgences like pizza and chocolate cake in moderation. She also commits to doing something active every day. Kirstie Alley Being Sued Over Claims of Losing Weight with Organic Liaison

Kirstie Alley drew much attention for her appearance on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 12, during which she shed nearly 100 pounds. But the actress is now being sued for reportedly lying about how she lost the weight.

In 2024, Alley lost nearly 75 pounds with the Jenny Craig program. But shortly thereafter, the actress developed her own diet program called Organic Liaison, which she credits her most recent weight loss to.

Since then, Alley has been openly promoting and endorsing the program saying, “I can assure you that if you follow this program, you’ll get healthier, lose weight, and not be ‘annoyingly’ hungry.”

But California resident Marina Abramyan is calling the star out by filing a class action lawsuit against her saying she did not lose the 100 pounds with Organic Liaison, but instead by dancing on “Dancing with the Stars” and following a clean diet. Abramyan believes Organic Liaison used false advertising to promote the program, including deceptive photos of Alley’s ever-slimming figure.

Abramyan brings the suit after trying Organic Liaison herself and not losing any weight. According to the official lawsuit text, she believes the products “are nothing more than run-of-the-mill fiber and calcium supplements.”

“The claims against Ms. Alley and Organic Liason are patently false,” said the brand in a statement shared with DietsInReview.com today. “We will vigorously defend ourselves against these frivolous claims.”

According to Courthouse News Service, the official complaint states: “In peddling the Organic Liaison Program, Ms. Alley attributes her weight loss to the program, but in reality, Ms. Alley’s weight loss is due to nothing more than the tried and true concept of diet and exercise. It is commonly known, and indeed a scientific fact, that if you are increasing exercise while decreasing caloric intake, you will lose weight. There is no magic pill or supplement that causes weight loss.”

Organic Liaison is a multi-layer membership and supplement program that supports the weight loss efforts of both men and women. The program is meant to “escort you into the world of organic weight loss,” as Alley describes in the product’s promotional video, and includes its own line of USDA organic supplement products to help you lose and manage your weight. The diet supplements are meant to help cleanse and detox the body while controlling cravings, reducing appetite, and boosting the metabolism.

In light of the weight loss claims, the brand defended in their statement their very public promotion of Kirstie’s weight before she was even tapped to appear on DWTS.

“Ms. Alley began her weight loss on the Organic Liaison program in early 2024. Ms. Alley had lost about 70 pounds prior to her participation as a contestant on DWTS in the Spring of 2024. That loss of weight was documented in Ms. Alley’s numerous appearances during that time frame on talk shows, numerous magazine articles and on QVC. Subsequently, during the nearly 3 month period that Ms. Alley competed on DWTS, she lost approximately another 20 pounds.”

They further argue that “Ms. Alley did not reach the 100 pound weight loss milestone on the Organic Liaison program until months after her participation in DWTS had ended. As such, contrary to Abramyan’s assertion, it was not several hours a day of vigorous dancing related to DWTS that caused her weight loss; it was her studious adherence to the Organic Liaison Weight Loss Program that caused the loss; that Program contains and requires regular exercise for success.” Further, the statement notes that Alley followed Organic Liaison for a 1.5 year time period, which would have attributed to her 100 pound weight loss total, far beyond the brief months she spent on the dancing reality show.

While Alley hasn’t formally responded to the charges, she did post a Twitter update on July 23 saying “Lol…noise noise.. Lots of noise…One sure sign of success is noise…even Heroes have lice.” It seems she isn’t taking the lawsuit too seriously as of yet.

How Maria Menounos Stays Fit After Dancing With the Stars

Maria Menounos has recently been making airwaves with her impressive moves on Dancing With the Stars (DWTS). And despite suffering two broken ribs during this season’s performances, she continued to be a strong contendor on the show before Tuesday night’s elimination. But Menounos says being voted off the show won’t stop her from keeping her body in tip-top shape.

Menounos is usually in the public eye as the host of “Entertainment Tonight,” but she’s also found fame as an actress. Because she’s constantly in the limelight, her body must be toned and fit. During DWTS, she practiced routines for up to five hours. But before she ever signed up for the show, she already managed a busy schedule which required her to work hard to stay in shape.

Unlike most celebrities, Menounos tries to steer clear of crazy diets. She eats healthy and has a regular exercise routine. Snacking is a number one rule for this celebrity, and a few of her favorites include veggies, fruits, Greek yogurt, and almonds. Due to her hectic agenda, she tries to snack a few times throughout the day. Perhaps her Greek heritage started her love for veggies and fruits. (more…)
