Body Confidence is a new book written by Mark Macdonald. Macdonald is the nutritionist for comedian Chelsea Handler and she contributed the foreword for Body Confidence. Macdonald is also the founder of Venice Nutrition, a program that gives permanent weight loss results to individuals with various goals. Body Confidence focuses on three key steps and its overall goal is to keep your body’s blood sugar stabilized. The three steps to this are:
Eat meals at consistent intervals
Consume the right amount of calories per meal
Absolute certainty in the nutrient ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrates
There is no group of foods that are off limits, it is important that you eat the correct combination of foods. Every stage of this program is designed to fit into your real life scenarios and help you stay on track no matter what obstacles come up. There are recipes included in the book along with goal setting tools, nutrition guides, and exercise journals. You don’t have to feel deprived or hungry to get into shape and stay there. Body Confidence offers you a solution that you can use to achieve your goals and one that you can maintain for life.
Teaches to focus on body fat percentage rather than weight
Helps you set goals that are achievable and motivating
Eat at consistent intervals
Combines proper nutrition with exercise
Keeps blood sugar levels stabilized
Includes recipes
Reprograms and repairs your metabolism

DIET and NUTRITION
The nutrition plan that you follow with Body Confidence is one that is focused on keeping blood sugar levels balanced through frequent meals. You eat immediately upon waking up and then every three to four hours. Something that is equally as important as the intervals of your meals is eating foods in the right combinations. Your meals will consist of a proper combination of protein, fat and carbohydrates. Because you will be eating several times per day, eating the right calories for each meal is important as well. Eating this way will help reduce your cravings for sugar and keep your body fueled throughout the day. This will also help keep your hormone levels normal.
For those that are concerned about getting to eat their favorite foods or drinking alcohol, that is allowed. There are some ground rules to follow but Body Confidence is about making changes that you can maintain for a lifetime. You can eat any food as long as it falls into the proper combination. This allows for maximum flexibility with the plan and never restricts you from anything.
EXERCISE
Exercise with Body Confidence focuses on cardio and strength training. There are some different options depending on what goals you are trying to reach. The cardio portion is used to burn fat and done at a high intensity. You start with cardio and once that portion is established, strength training is added. For those that want the long and lean look, Pilates is one recommended method for the core. Body Confidence doesn’t involve a lot of labor intensive calculations. You are simply given the tools needed to get the best results possible. Following this program you will notice an increase in daily energy, your clothes will fit looser, your body fat percentage will decrease and your body weight will decrease.
CONCLUSION
Finding a weight loss solution that will give you permanent results is hard. Beware of programs or diets that have you change your behavior temporarily. Body Confidence offers a permanent solution that you can follow for the rest of your life. Some of the best aspects of this program are that it does not force you to eliminate any particular food and it encourages healthy eating habits along with regular exercise. Body Confidence also gets your body’s blood sugar levels stabilized, so that you can eliminate cravings for carbohydrates and sugar. Body Confidence offers an ideal plan if you are looking for results and willing to put in the work.

Meat Alternates for the Body Confidence diet.
Mark, I have at leat 50lbs to lose, I have tried and failed at various diets - hating the restrictions or limits on what NOT to eat. My question is what is the alternate equivalent to the meats for protein? All diets show a piece of chicken/turkey/fish neither of which I include in my vegetarian diet. Are the soy veggie burgers/sausages etc a good alternate and are they healthy to eat regularly?
Easiest plan I've ever been on. Lost the weight first, then lowered the body fat. Now, I'm on part two to increase muscle mass. Smart, reasonable and effective. The key is to stay true to the program during plateaus. Other diets usually don't tell oyu about the plateaus. Highly recommend it.
