Casserole Italiano

Baked Italian pasta perfect for a potluck.

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs. lean ground sirloin
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
  • 8oz. package uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1- 3oz. can button mushrooms, drained
  • 1- 8.75oz. can tomato soup, undiluted
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated fat-free Parmesan cheese


  1. Cook macaroni according to package instructions, set aside
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
  3. In a large skillet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, saute onion and green pepper over medium heat until tender
  4. Add ground round, cooking until brown
  5. Add salt, pepper, oregano and Worcestershire sauce
  6. In a 2 1/2-quart casserole, combine cooked macaroni, ground round mixture, mushrooms, soup and chopped tomato
  7. Cover and bake for 40 minutes
  8. Remove from oven, sprinkle cheese on top and bake 5 minutes more, or until cheese is melted and brown
