LA Weight Loss is a company that has a history of weight loss centers and high powered sales tactics. However, LA Weight Loss has recently closed many of their centers around the country and transformed their program to one that can be done entirely online. There are a few physical centers that remain, but the online program allows you to participate in the program no matter where you live. The LA Weight Loss program is designed for those with a busy lifestyle. You can achieve weight loss results quickly using this program. The key to the fast and effective results is called the transmetabolic factor.
This helps your body burn calories throughout the day. You don’t have do anything special for this factor to occur, you just have to follow the LA Weight Loss menu plan. Although the claim is that the transmetabolic factor occurs through the foods you eat, you are required to purchase nutrition supplements each month with the LA Weight Loss program. With the meal plan, each meal includes balanced amounts of protein, carbohydrates and good fat. Portion control and timing of meals is also very important on this program. When you start the program, you use the LA Rapid Results Food Guide. This guide is followed until you lose 20 pounds. At that point you will transition to the LA My Way Food Guide. If your goal is to lose less than 20 pounds, you would transition once you reach your goal. The foods you will eat are those that you purchase at your local grocery store. There are no prepackaged meals to buy, but you are encouraged to purchase and eat two LA Lite Bars each day along with LA SmartTrim Nutritionals.
You will choose the foods you eat each day and never be forced to eat things you don’t like. There are support tools available as well as one on one support through chat rooms and forums. To jump-start your results, you will receive a 2 day kick-start plan featuring the LA Weight Loss TakeOFF Juice. There are five easy to follow steps that make the up the elements of the entire LA Weight Loss program. The LA Weight Loss program is divided into three phases: Weight Loss, Stabilize, Maintenance.

LA Weight Loss has a non-diet approach. They promote a healthy weight loss program, that teaches you how to live a healthy and balanced life- not just kill a few pounds for the moment. You won't have to seriously restrict one group of food, like a low-carb or no-fat diet; instead, you'll learn how to enjoy all things in moderation assuring your body receives all the nutrients it needs. Following the LA Weight Loss program is easy and can be done in five steps. Along with the meal plan you will be purchasing bars and nutrition supplements. For those that don’t live in an area with physical LA Weight Loss Centers, you can complete the program online. Your eating plan will vary depending on your current weight. There are additional products available including additional bars, protein shakes, snacks and a plateau breaking system. The five steps of the weight loss program include:
- Step 1: Use the 2-Day Kick Start plan on your first two days and then every 14 days while you are working towards reaching your goal weight. This stage uses the LA Weight Loss TakeOFF Juice. This juice prepares your body for weight loss and claims to help you get rid of pounds quickly.
- Step 2: This stage starts on your third day of the program and continues until you lose 20 pounds or reach your goal if it’s less than 20 pounds. During this stage you will be using the LA Rapid Results Diet System. You follow the food choices in your food guide that includes foods from the categories of proteins, vegetables, fruits, starches, dairy, fats, beverages, extras and LA Lites Bars. During this stage you will be eating six meals from your allowed menu.
- Step 3: Transition to the LA My Way Food Guide once you have lost 20 pounds. You stay on this stage until you reach your goal weight. Your LA My Way Food Guide includes a more expanded food list. This stage will allow you to continue your weight loss. If you feel more comfortable, you can stay with the eating guidelines of stage two until you reach your goal or are ready to move on.
- Step 4: Use LA Lites Bars every day throughout the program. These bars are said to be a crucial component of your success. They are designed to help reduce cravings and temptations. The bars are convenient and can be taken with you anywhere.
- Step 5: Use the LA SmartTrim Nutritionals with your diet program. These supplements are also said to be an integral part of the LA Weight Loss program. Previously, these supplements and the snack bars were the cause of a lot of scrutiny with the sales practices of the physical centers. Now when you order your program online, they are included. The supplements are specifically designed to give your body the needed nutrients to complete the program.
As part of the LA Weight Loss program, you'll be encouraged to get up and move. LA states that even a mild exercise regimen will yield results. The LA Weight Loss program is heavily based on the foods you eat along with their snack bars and nutrition supplements. You are encouraged to exercise at least three times per week to burn calories and increase your weight loss results. The type of exercise you do is left completely up to you, so finding something you like would be beneficial.
LA Weight Loss has created a program that is different from what they have previously used. You can do this program online without having to go to a center for your products. This is especially helpful because most of the centers have closed. It is important to notice that the bulk of what you are spending on this program each month is to pay for the required bars and nutrition supplements. For those that want to truly lose weight and keep it off, a healthy diet and exercise plan can get you there. Changing your eating habits and adding physical activity is the tried and true way to lose weight, and you won’t spend hundreds of dollars each month on snack bars and supplements.

As a current employee of LA Weight loss Franchise Co, I feel it is my duty to warn all consumers that you absolutely do not want to waste your money because the company will be closing its doors. I was one of the lucky ones this round that did not lose thier jobs but as of Friday, we were told that like Pure Weight loss the company is having financial troubles and are restructuring. They have closed several franchise markets and are continuing to close more. If the Franchisor (Harold Katz) shuts down then all of the Franchise Owners will have no support or supplies to offer thier clients. You do the math. It is so sad that I have worked for the company for over 6 years and too see how things have transpired makes me sick. Due to the lack of empathy that this company shows its employees and clients I can not continue to be a part of it. I am submitting my resignation tomorrow and just wanted to warn everyone to beware before spending your money on the program. This company is CLOSING ITS DOORS!!!!!

LA Weight loss can work but be VERY catious before joining. You pay a fee for the service and they really presure you into buying their bars and products which you do not need. This can run you anywhere from $1400-$4000.The corporate location in horsham PA for all of the franchise centers are having major financial troubles just like the owner of Pure Weight loss did. They have recently laid off several corporate employees and there is talk of closing all of the franchises. I would hate to see everyone lose their money. Harold Katz the franchisor for LA Weight loss has a history of doing this. Just google him and you will find out what you need to know. They are having problems producing products and supporting their franchises. Many franchise owners have closed their businesses in the States and now it looks like the international franchises are financially struggling as well. The staff is over worked and under paid. Many times you will go into a center and have long wait times due to the shortage of personelle. I feel sorry for these employees. It is too bad because the plan can work but the company is going out of business so do not waste your money.

I did LA Weight Loss and was not impressed!! Basically you are paying money for a "personal counselor" to help you with your weight loss goal. However, they are really just sales people that are out to sale you an La product every chance they get. $1000 dollars for vitamins, $300 for meal replacement food, and you still need to go grocery shopping for all that healthy food. Not to mention your membership fee that they love to say "you can always finance it" (yeah okay). Two weeks into the program, I knew that this was not supportive agency like they claim with their one-to-one counselors, because I had different counselor each time I came in who I need to explain my goal each time. The bottom line is you could probably find a friend, chat buddy or a family member to give you the encouragement and a calorie base plan for yourself on the internet for a lot less. Lets face it if your trying to loose weight on the LA weight loss plan your either loose weight b/c your to poor to buy food or pay mortgage or your gain even more weight by emotionally eating b/c you are in debt. At least if your pay in 1000's of dollars you might else well get the damn food delivered to you like nutrisystem. Good luck all my dieters!!!!!

I had my stomach stapled in 1998. Lost 40 pounds and plateaued before discovering it was'nt how much I was eating, but what I was eating. Last year my son turned 3 and I decided I was tired of being fat, sore knees, plus size clothes etc. and joined LA. I knew I was doomed from the start. I tried to tell the councellor that I could'nt eat meat - it makes me sick to my stomach, and dairy gives me extreme heart burn. Not to mention that my stomach can only hold about 5oz of food. She looked me square in the eye and told me it was in my head and if I wanted to loose weight, I'd have to suck it up and try harded. I felt bullied, and so went home with the bars, supplements and tears streaming down my face. Afterall, she is a professional right? Maybe vomiting once a day won't be so bad?? I gave it a go. One week later, I went in for the consult. I had gained 3 pounds and I was pissed. 6 weeks, switching from the "gout" plan to the "vegitarian" plan, more bars, more money, no more weight loss. My point...Why pay to talk to a brick wall? I can do that for free...I'm married. Still determined to shead the pounds, i have since joined Jenny Craig. I love it and am expecting great success. The portions are just right, the food is delicious, my councellor actually listens and motivates me, and they have come up with a plan that fits me perfectly. HAVE YOU CALLED JENNY YET?

LA Weight Loss has terrible customer service, spotty "centers" and is expensive and misleading when you sign up. If you do decide to use this method tell them you only want to lose a small amount of weight because you pay for the number of weeks it would take you to lose say 40 lbs, vs. 15 lbs. At $9.90 a week plus the cost of the bars, its a lot of money up front! When I finally asked for a refund, I was granted a small % of what I paid. Then asked to wait 6-8 weeks for the check. I am now in the 9th week and after a call to the local center, have found out that someone dropped the ball and I will have to wait an additional 2-3 weeks for the check. And of course, there is one at the "corporate" office that I can contact about this. Ridiculous! Don't join unless you want to pay alot!

I did LA weight-loss a few years ago. I did lose 22 pounds, but I ended up broke in the process. It costs a fortune buying the supplements- and you have to buy them!! So, unless you have money to burn and have a center near by don't do it. You need to go 3 times a week and it gets to be a pain.

I have been with LA Weight Loss since 9-26-06 and have lost 27 lbs. On 12-26-07 they closed their doors in Anderson SC. Now they are LA ON The Go.....when the center closed, they said they would call you and no one called me, I had to call them. They clained they didn't have my number in my chart which is a BIG LIE because they would call me sometimes from the Anderson Office, when they were opened. For anyone thinking about joining, DO NOT JOIN THEM, THEY ARE JUST OUT THERE TO GET ALL THE MONEY THEY CAN GET FROM YOU...... I wrote the coroporal office because I am not satisified with LA on the Go and I cannot drive to their closest office wirhter. And if I don't hear from them, I to am going to see about going to a lawyer. P/S Try Weight Watchers, most Doctors say that is the SAFEST diet to go on.

I have been a member since August and lost 20 pounds before they closed. They didn't tell me of the closing and owe me about 28 boxes of LA weightloss bars, which I paid upfront for! I am furious. Anyone know who I can get the bars owed me or a refund?

I joined LA 4 months ago, and have lost 31 pounds so far. Sure it's hard sometimes, but you just have to stick to it. If your serious about it then its definately worth it. it was expensive but the support and motivation from everyone there helps so much. THANK YOU LA!!

LA Weigh Loss is probably one of the worst plans to teach how to eat. I had a very bad experience at one in Calgary in Crowfoot Mall. The people who are suppose to be friendly and most of all knowledgeable about nutrition have no idea OF WHAT THEY are selling you. When I asked how many calories had a single bar they did not know. They tend to get very rude when you, during the first visit do not want to buy the super expensive bars, (full of sugar by the way) and other supplements that are fooling people and making them rich. I have the worst experience from these bunch of sales people. PLEASE DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

Interesting how they call Pure Weight Loss (LA's now bankrupt sister company) out for pushy sales people but not LA Weight loss. Tactics are the same. Buy our overpriced, nutritionally challenged bars and other assorted weight loss wonders is the name of their game.

LA weight loss is a rip off! They have promised to refund my money since July and I have yet to receive one penny. I guess I don't have any other choice than to contact an attorney!

I have been a member for two years and lost 30 pounds. I was on a light blood pressure medicine before going to LA Weight Loss and after 1 year have been taking off the medicine. My blood pressure has been down and I have been doing fine. I dropped two sizes and look great. I am very disappointed that they are out of business as of January 4th. I would like to keep on the program even if I do it myself but I would like to know where I can purchase the vitamins/suplements. Are the Slim Fast bars similar to the LA Bars? Can somone please help me out here. I do think it was un-business like not to contact the clients and let them know they were going out of business. Especially for the people who have supported them year to year. This is a good program but people have to understand that this is a program that you have to stick with for the rest of their lives if they want to keep the weight off. This is not a temporary program. Just like anything else, it very easy to get back to your bad habits. I really feel sorry for the people who worked at LA Weight Loss because they are out of jobs. This is no way for them to start a new year.

I lost 70 pounds on this program. I got tired of trying to lose the weight on my own. Like any good program, it does cost money. As far as I was concerned it was well worth it. One observation: a lot of folks sign up for this and don't have the dedication to follow it. If you aren't serious about losing the weight, don't bother. You will disappoint your counselor, yourself, and toss a bit of money into a very dark hole.

I was on LA weight loss for 6 months. I did in fact work. However, I stopped going, because of the price of the LA lite bars. There are programs that are offered by LA weight loss, that do not have the bars as part of them, however if you sign up for one of those programs, chances are the sales people (Who obviously work on commission) will be rude to you.

Speaking as someone who has been on both sides of the LA program, as a client and a counselor, I must start by saying that if you are dedicated to the program it will work and you will lose your weight. For the most part the counselors are very supportive and do put the clients best interest at mind as far as losing. With that being said, I do feel that the program (which you are encouraged to pay for all weeks up front), the lites (which run up to 28 dollars a week if you can't afford to pay for them all up front for the length of your program), supplements and others extras becomes extremely expensive. The program is guaranteed only if you purchase the bars. In the event that you do get a refund, you can only get the money for the program back, the LA lites you buy in advanced are not refundable. As far as the main objective being sales, for the most part that is true, because after all it is a business, and a profit does need to be made. Yes, most of the people do actually care about seeing you suceed, but on the same token, they get commission on everything you purchase, bonuses when sales goals are met, and other incentives such as jewelry. If money is no object for you however, the program is sound, and they have incorporated alot of things you could not previosly eat on the program, and it does teach you how to change your lifestyle, and depending on your center, the support is great.

I'm currently on the program. The first 4 weeks was easy, but now I find it harder. Especially when I go out for supper with friends...it's hard to understand...I'm on the 6th week and have lost about 8 pounds.
