Do You Know the Best Diets of 2024?
Quick Weight Loss, founded in Florida, provides individualized weight loss therapy. The program boasts no exercise and you eat the foods you love including the diet program's own line of diet foods and herbal and thermogenic supplements.
Made popular by Rush Limbaugh who in 2009 lost a remarkable amount of weight in a short period of time following a Quick Weight Loss created just for him, this southern Florida company has helped many lose weight.
Currently, the only bricks and mortar Quick Weight Loss Centers are scattered around southern Florida but there is an online program that you can join from anywhere in the country. This home-based program is a six-week program in which you receive support and counseling via email and phone from Quick Weight Loss Center specialists.
Once you have signed up for either program, you work individually with a Quick Weight Loss Center expert in order to create your own customized diet plan.
In general, the Quick Weight Loss plan provides participants a diet that is low calorie (up to 1,500 calories/day). You buy the foods you like to make and supplement with Quick Weight Loss brand's bars, beverages, soups as well as supplement s that are intended to facilitate weight loss.
You can expect to lose three to seven pounds each week while following the Quick Weight Loss Center programs.
- Doctor clearance shows they are being responsible
Helped Rush Limbaugh lose 80 pounds in 2009
Offers an individualized program to weight loss
One-on-one support provides motivation and accountability
- Weight loss claims may be exaggerated
- Required to buy program's special line of foods increases costs
- Herbal supplements and other stimulants are required
- Supplements do not require FDA approval; check with your doctor before taking
- Brick and mortar locations are limited to southern Florida and Texas
- Low calorie diet plan may lead to rebound weight gain
- Diet program rules are not scientifically founded
While all Quick Weight Loss Center diets are custom-designed, there are a few benchmark features that are applied to every participant's diet.
Most diet plans include a low-calorie and low-fat daily eating plan that is comprised of about 1,500 calories a day.
And while the company remains pretty hush-hush about what their diet looks like, a few secrets slipped through the cracks thanks to Rush's public discussion about his experience with Quick Weight Loss Centers.
There are a host of other food rules that you must abide by while following the program such as eating green peppers but not red bell peppers and not combining two different kinds of proteins in one meal. For instance you can have seven ounces of grilled chicken breast but not three ounces of white fish and four ounces of turkey breast in one meal. In addition, alcohol, sugar, refined flours and fried foods are not allowed.
You can also supplement with Quick Weight Loss Centers proprietary foods which can be purchased online or at one of the Center's Florida locations. Such foods include special puddings, shake mixes, nutrition bars, soups and oatmeal.
In addition, you are also encouraged to take Quick Weight Loss Centers own line of dietary supplements like essential fatty acids, herbs and carb blockers, all of which are supposed to facilitate speedy weight loss.
You can engage in moderate exercise while following the Quick Weight Loss Center diet but hard-core exercise is not a strong feature of this plan.
Made popular almost overnight by conservative radio-host Rush Limbaugh who lost 80 pounds in just a few months, Quick Weight Loss Centers is a Florida-based customized diet plan that helps you lose weight quickly with its low-calorie and highly structured eating plan. But it is exactly this stringent plan that lands this diet in the category of countless other plans that take off a lot of weight in a short amount of time and then risks gaining it all back once you are no longer on the plan.
But with this rather mysterious diet plan filled with specific eating rules and special supplements that contain hoodia and ephedra-like stimulants, you might want to think twice about spending the money on Quick Weight Loss Center and instead think about incorporating more natural, practical and long-term strategies for successful weight loss.

I am back and I have completed my first week and have to say that I am a bit disappointed. I have not cheated once and I have weighed myself on my scale to keep track. Well I have only lost .5 pounds. Yes you read this right .5 and it states that you lose up to 3 - 7 pounds a week. Has this happened to anyone of you? I have had my 2 protein, 4 veggies, 2 starches, 3 fruit and 1 fat, 2 supplements and of course my 8 oz of Skim Milk. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I know that I am supposed to weigh my chicken, beef, fish before cooking which I do. I cook my veggies and know I can have 1/2 cup which is a point on my vegetables. Can anyone assist me?? PLEASE!!!!

+Hi to all, Been doing the diet since 10/15, have lost 25lbs to date (15 of them fat pounds) I have absolutely no complaints, I buy my bars and puddings from diet direct, I don??t take any hoodia, I don't use the vitamin drinks, I only take the starch blocker, then I check in with my online counselor every other week, basically I do my own thing. It's a change in lifestyle; I eat what I want in moderation because I now have the skills to do so. I hope more people read the info provided to you on this site before you spend all this money at the centers. Unless you truly need to report to someone daily about your eating, you DO NOT have to! Take the information a lot of us have posted as well as the lists I have posted off all that you can eat and you can DO IT!!! Good luck!

+So far, it has been good. The only issue, like everyone else, is the money one has to spend. I'm running out of supplements, and cant seem to be able to afford more right now. I think I may have to do without them :( has anyone tried it with out the protein supplements? Has it worked for you guys? Is there a cheaper alternative other than the websites... like maybe powder that I can buy in GNC or something like it?
posted Jan 22nd, 2009 12:28 pmHowever, I have lost about 7lbs in about 2 weeks. I have cheated bad... drank, eat etc etc... but when I stick with it it works.
Keep in mind that this is their BUSINESS and therefore their profits are more important that your weightloss, and it must be you who puts the effort into it. However, they do encourage you (the center in Miami, FL on 163 street) and they seem like genuine people... It is restrictive... but you can't seriously think you can loose weight and eat everything you want! You have to find tricks to everything. Mrs. Dash is AWESOME! and really my lifeline... being Hispanic and eating this way is very hard! But... doable. Stick to it guys... GOOD LUCK!
Can anyone answer my questions above?
Brenda
I joined the program on Saturday and today I started my Detox phase, wher I eat all the Protein and Veggies on the list. I am excited and motivated. I have read so many pros and cons about the plan and will not let the cons fog my motivation. I need the guidance, I have tried to do it on my own and can't do it. I have to have someone there to guide me. I also feel that money is another issue. Since I paid this money, that is another way for me to not give up as its not cheap. I read here where someone said that it is not cheap but my health is worth it!! I applaud that person. We spend money on things we don't need, but here we complain on something that will help you achieve results if you stick to it. Well, like I said today is my first day on the detox phase and very excited. If anyone out there share some suggestions to get through this phase successfully I would like to hear from you!!! Thanks for all the support you give people on this site along with the non supporters. Good Luck to all of you!

-After signing up I felt like I had a bait-and-switch done to me when I went to the first meeting. This program requires not only a large up-front fee based on how much weight you have to loose, but then at your first meeting (and only class ) you will be hit with the costs of 2 QWL nutritional snacks for day of your plan. These must be eaten for the guarantee to be honored. If you do not buy them all that day they are 33% more. Ex: each box of 7 food bars is regularly $15 but if you buy it that day it is only $10.
posted Jan 17th, 2009 7:28 pmThe lady who taught the class gave insructions to people on three different level plans but talked like we were all on the same plan. So the first week I was very confused by what she had said verses what was in my written information.
Because of all the variables, I suspect no matter what you do they will find some loop-hole to wiggle out of the honoring the guarantee if you fail. I have 50 lbs to loose and was charged nearly $700 for 17 weeks. The food and the suppliments they say will make this all work was nearly $500. So as you see I am very deep into this thing! (in for a penny in for a pound). On top of it the sales lady told me the diet I would be on is NOTHING like what I am actually on. (Foods you like to eat - no - it is VERY restricted.) Now when I go in for my weekly weigh-in "Ms Friendly" doesn't give me the time of day. I am in my third week. I was told I would loose 3-7 lbs per week., and with as little as I can have, I should be! I have done everything they have said to do and lost only 2 1/2lbs. So buyer beware!
The other thing you have to know (since this is listed in the "pro" section of this review is that though they weigh you and take your blood pressure weekly, and they do ask if your doctor has asked you if you should lose weight, they did not ask for my doctors name or contact information.
I am in this thing for at least 17 weeks and will continue to do what they say. I will keep you posted. At this point I can only give it a thumbs down.

+FYI... The program is guaranteed whether you buy any of their products or not. I didn't take any of the stuff they sell. I followed the food program and lost 30 lbs

+HI pinktatoos,
posted Jan 10th, 2009 10:36 pmHappy New Year!!
First off CONGRATS on the weight loss!! You are doing great. I at 22lbs to date, through the holidays, moving, and starting a nursing program I am still losing at least 1/2 to 1lb a week without trying. My schedule has been crazy for the last month, LOTS of eating out due to being in between homes, school etc. BUT I have gained nothing back. Smart choices and proper portions IS ALL you need to follow as I have said before. Lifestyle change!! It is soooo easy once you get into the habit of thinking before you eat something and planning ahead. Keep up the good work and keep in touch. PS my online check in counselor said there is NO longer an eating out guide due to alot of the resteraunts closing??? Oh well, when eating out stick to the fish, chicken, burger with no bun, fresh veggies, salad with dressing on side adn you'll do fine.
Take care......
KH
+I have been on this program for 3 months now. Spent lots of money. It is restrictive and does not teach behavior changes.
posted Jan 7th, 2009 3:53 pmI don't think the councilors are professionals. You will lose weight but must tick to the program. This is true of any diet and you can do a lot better paying a lot less money some where else.

+Hi Kat...
posted Jan 7th, 2009 12:46 pmI just wanted to dro0 a line to update you since you seem to be right about the fact that not very many people post in regards to their progress here.
I have been on the plan for a month and have lost 11 lbs. I am pretty happy with my progress so far considering the fact that I made it through the holidays and the first 10 lbs simultaneously. I DEFINITELY cheated over the holidays but I was more inclined to cheat smart after eating so healthy for a while. I am currently fighting to lose three more pounds and clear 150 lbs so wish me luck! oh also... I never got the 'eating out guide' what is it?
JoeDirt
+They will always tell you you have to take 2 Supplements.....Because that is where they make money.
posted Jan 5th, 2009 1:14 pmI have dropped 60lbs....and I have Taken Breaks...Stopped the Weight Loss Pills , stopped The Supplements...They key is the Portion control...Working out helps as well...I am not a doctor but neither are they..and I say ween yourself off the diet pills and the supplements....South Beach Dirt Bars...have 30 More Calories and 3 less grams of protein. The QWL Center aside from weighing me in Does not offer any magic....it is up to me..60 lbs still going..even took 2 weeks off for the Holidays.....
One of the "Nutritionists" told me That I was over loading on Protein because I would eat EggPlant 1-2 times a week...I calmly told her Eggplant is a Veggie my dear. you can reach me over on Yahooo...riperjoe is the way to contact me.

+Thanks AC! I appreciate the input!
posted Jan 5th, 2009 1:07 pmI have been trying to season with Mrs Dash chicken seasoning.
I think being a picky eater (mostly carb stuff) is what got me here in the first place! LOL
I normally could get by on cereal in the morning, a sandwich for lunch and then a snack and dinner.
I am trying to do a shake in the morning with a handful of strawberries, lunch has been chicken on one slice of bread, a snack has been a salad and dinner has been chicken or turkey with veggies.
Dessert has been pudding.
I will definately look for that other Mrs Dash seasoning thouugh, I could use a change in flavor! I am only 1 week into this yesterday. I lost 4.5 during prep but then must have gained 1.5lbs once I added the carbs back in. I have a thyroid condition too, so weight loss is always a struggle. I am hoping to stick with this and see some results soon I hope!

+I started my 3 day detox today. I was told to do the 2 nutritional supplements each day during this phase (bars, shakes). She even wrote it on my detox diet sheet. Is this correct? From what I read it doesn't sound right. Please advise me!

+This program is easy to follow and the counseling is good. A lot of protein for men, sometimes it seems like too much but is do-able. I've had nice results in 4 weeks and am 1/3 of the way to my goal.
posted Jan 4th, 2009 7:53 pmIt is VERY EXPENSIVE and the supplements and "pills" are over priced, but it is working for me so that made it worth it.

+Amy: I am sorry .. I totally read over the part that stated you don't like seafood!

+In response to Amy:
posted Jan 3rd, 2009 3:35 pm"But how do you tell the counselor that you are going to do that?
Are you "Required" to purchase any more of their stuff when you pay the $600.00 up front?"
...I didn't feel obligated to tell my counselor anything...The protein supplements are part of my plan..plan 1...so since I can eat the protein bars I just buy them on diet direct...the only reason you may want to tell your counselor is if you are not sure which supplements you are allowed to eat...other than that do not allow them to pressure you to purchase them at the center.
Menu variations: do you eat shrimp or fish?
I like to use the Mrs.Dash Lemon Peppercorn marinade as a little sauce.. I toss my chicken when hot in the sauce...also, I like to season my chicken with curry powder

-I am 6 days into this diet and I am SO sick of chicken and turkey. I can't have beef until next week.(I don't like seafood, cottage cheese or eggs so I am stuck with chicken & turkey)
posted Jan 2nd, 2009 8:34 pmDoes anyone have any ideas of any sample menus or ideas of what type of meal plans worked for you?
The girls at the center say that they don't give you meal plans because they like you to keep it flexible for yourself.
Personally, for me for $600.00 I wish I had someone to tell me what to eat and when, it would give me back an hour each night when I am trying to plan the next day's menus.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Also my second question..... I know alot of you say that you can go to dietdirect.com or other websites, that is a great idea!
But how do you tell the counselor that you are going to do that?
Are you "Required" to purchase any more of their stuff when you pay the $600.00 up front?
just wondering!!

+I lost 52 lbs rapidly and then stopped losing. It took about 8-9 mos. It does work, but it gets expensive buying pills, supplements, etc. They are delicious though and the plan works if you follow it to a T like your counselor shows you.
