Do You Know the Best Diets of 2024?
Quick Weight Loss, founded in Florida, provides individualized weight loss therapy. The program boasts no exercise and you eat the foods you love including the diet program's own line of diet foods and herbal and thermogenic supplements.
Made popular by Rush Limbaugh who in 2009 lost a remarkable amount of weight in a short period of time following a Quick Weight Loss created just for him, this southern Florida company has helped many lose weight.
Currently, the only bricks and mortar Quick Weight Loss Centers are scattered around southern Florida but there is an online program that you can join from anywhere in the country. This home-based program is a six-week program in which you receive support and counseling via email and phone from Quick Weight Loss Center specialists.
Once you have signed up for either program, you work individually with a Quick Weight Loss Center expert in order to create your own customized diet plan.
In general, the Quick Weight Loss plan provides participants a diet that is low calorie (up to 1,500 calories/day). You buy the foods you like to make and supplement with Quick Weight Loss brand's bars, beverages, soups as well as supplement s that are intended to facilitate weight loss.
You can expect to lose three to seven pounds each week while following the Quick Weight Loss Center programs.
- Doctor clearance shows they are being responsible
Helped Rush Limbaugh lose 80 pounds in 2009
Offers an individualized program to weight loss
One-on-one support provides motivation and accountability
- Weight loss claims may be exaggerated
- Required to buy program's special line of foods increases costs
- Herbal supplements and other stimulants are required
- Supplements do not require FDA approval; check with your doctor before taking
- Brick and mortar locations are limited to southern Florida and Texas
- Low calorie diet plan may lead to rebound weight gain
- Diet program rules are not scientifically founded
While all Quick Weight Loss Center diets are custom-designed, there are a few benchmark features that are applied to every participant's diet.
Most diet plans include a low-calorie and low-fat daily eating plan that is comprised of about 1,500 calories a day.
And while the company remains pretty hush-hush about what their diet looks like, a few secrets slipped through the cracks thanks to Rush's public discussion about his experience with Quick Weight Loss Centers.
There are a host of other food rules that you must abide by while following the program such as eating green peppers but not red bell peppers and not combining two different kinds of proteins in one meal. For instance you can have seven ounces of grilled chicken breast but not three ounces of white fish and four ounces of turkey breast in one meal. In addition, alcohol, sugar, refined flours and fried foods are not allowed.
You can also supplement with Quick Weight Loss Centers proprietary foods which can be purchased online or at one of the Center's Florida locations. Such foods include special puddings, shake mixes, nutrition bars, soups and oatmeal.
In addition, you are also encouraged to take Quick Weight Loss Centers own line of dietary supplements like essential fatty acids, herbs and carb blockers, all of which are supposed to facilitate speedy weight loss.
You can engage in moderate exercise while following the Quick Weight Loss Center diet but hard-core exercise is not a strong feature of this plan.
Made popular almost overnight by conservative radio-host Rush Limbaugh who lost 80 pounds in just a few months, Quick Weight Loss Centers is a Florida-based customized diet plan that helps you lose weight quickly with its low-calorie and highly structured eating plan. But it is exactly this stringent plan that lands this diet in the category of countless other plans that take off a lot of weight in a short amount of time and then risks gaining it all back once you are no longer on the plan.
But with this rather mysterious diet plan filled with specific eating rules and special supplements that contain hoodia and ephedra-like stimulants, you might want to think twice about spending the money on Quick Weight Loss Center and instead think about incorporating more natural, practical and long-term strategies for successful weight loss.

-I just spent 630 on the starter pack and I am in the prep phase of it. I just bought the program yesterday, but after taking one energy boost today I don't feel well.
posted Dec 28th, 2008 7:14 pmI have not done my nutrition class yet.
How can I cancel? The receipt says all sales final, but I have heard that it may still be possible to cancel if you haven't done the nutritional class yet.
What about stopping the charge to my credit card?
Help if you have any advice!

+Question: Can anyone please share with me if they have used slim quick capsules or drink packets? also, are they a viable substitute for the QWLC herbal supplements and quick boost?
posted Dec 28th, 2008 4:55 pmI started the program in September and have since lost 25 lbs. I have followed the eating regimen at least 95% of the time and since the holidays I kind of fell of the wagon a bit. i am glad to report that though i pretty much ate what i wanted for thanksgiving and christmas I have maintained the weight loss. i do not want anyone to think it is ok to cheat and you won't gain the weight back, but remaining physically active I think attributed to the maintenance. I have 25 more pounds to go and starting at the New year I will be right back on it 100%.
Sure, it is costly... but buying the bars and other items on diet direct has sure defrayed the cost burden. Also, I signed on during a time they were running a "special" so i did not shell out thousands as others have reported. also, I think the cost may vary with the amount of weight you have to lose..not sure though. good luck to all who are on the plan and to those still riding the fence you may read further down on this blog to get the jist of how this plan operates and start incorporating it into your eating lifestyle: morton's lite salt, mrs. dash, leafy greens, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, chicken breast , fish , shrimp, apples, berries, protein bars and shakes are my lifelines!

posted Dec 23rd, 2008 5:29 pmI don';t take the hoodia anymore and as far as supplements go, I take my normal Walgreens multi vitamin and 4000mg of fish oil (again Walgreens) daily. I do buy the protein bars from dietdirect and eat one a day, I carry one in my purse all the time so I don't find myself out and about and hungry. If I eat a big meal I may take a carb blocker once in a while. I eat normal food, everyday, in my home and out at resteraunts and I am still losing weight. I'm not hungry because I eat plenty of protein daily. The diet is a lifestyle change, teaching you too make good choices. you have to learn to eat right all the time. You can cheat sure, but if you cheat enough you will gain weight. You have to learn and practice portion control, bottom line. Knock the centers all you want, I've never been in one. I have a rep that emails once a week to check in. Behooves me how people get pissy about the centers and bash the diet, sour grapes is all that is, don't go then, do it on your own, I've posted enough stuff here that anyone that has any will power can do it. Take personal responsibilty for your OWN life and do something. All I hear is "it's hard, you can't eat "this food" forever. IT IS NORMAL food people, chicken, hamburger, fish, veggies. It's laziness if you can't follow. You have to PLAN ahead what you are gonna eat that's all there is too it. If it is too hard to figure out what you are gonna eat the next day, then eat out of a box, call Nutrasystem or Jenny Craig.

-Hi everyone,
posted Dec 23rd, 2008 10:21 amI did the QWLC diet about 10 years ago. It was when the phen-phen diet was the hype. I lost about 30 lbs in about 3-4 months and what I was most impressed w/, was the fact that I WAS NEVER HUNGRY!
Its been 10 years and i've put back some of that weight on.
Since my body is muh different now I need to lose about 15lbs.
I went to the QWLC office and it was high pressure sales. I can tell you that the price went from $1,700, to the "special of $680" to $469 since I would not be able to go to the center 2x's per week to weigh my self....oh, and besides these prices, I would still have to buy all of the pills, supplements and their stuff, NOT!!! Times are kind of tough right now.
I'm sorry, but am I the only one that thinks these are ridiculous prices? I'm willing to do almost anything for a good diet, but I felt they were just sales people looking out for themselves. I've come to this site since I'm going to do it on my own. I'm 5'3, 31 years old and 146lbs. 10 yrs ago when I did this diet, I went down to 116 lbs, which now looking at pictures, I looked horrible. My goal weight is 130 lbs, give or take a few. I'm not obese, just slightly overweight. My BMI is around 25.
My question to you that has actually read all of this, what do you take that actually curbs the appetite? is it the Hoodia?
thank you so much for any help or opinion on my review. If you want to reach me I am at fxybrzln at yahoooooo
Thank you for all your input!

-I want to make the general public aware of Quick Weight Loss Centers. While I cant say they are an outright scam, you will lose weight if you follow their program, its not a program I would recommend to anybody. Its very expensive and if you go off the program even a little you will gain weight and very rapidly.
posted Dec 22nd, 2008 10:31 pmWhen you sign up for the plan you are given a meal plan and a ton of very expensive supplements. Then you go into their center and weigh in several times a week. My first clue that the program probably wouldn??t work should have been the overweight ??counselors? that were at the center I went to. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe the have once been even larger than they currently were and were in the process of losing weight on the Quick Weight Loss plan. One claimed to have lost weight using the plan (she was the smallest but still by no means thin by my standards) and another claimed she was on the plan but I saw her at Target recently (after about 9 months) and she is still as fat as always.
Anyway, like I said, you will lose weight if you follow the meal plan but it??s a plan that is impossible for anybody to stick with long term. They claim that once you reach your goal weight you can slowly add back in ??normal? foods under their supervision but I don??t see how you would ever keep your weight off if you did that. Its not like once your body reaches some magic weight you are going to be able to eat the foods that would cause you gain weight when you went off plan when you were losing weight.
I think the goal of Quick Weight Loss is to keep you on their plan long term because one of the many products they sell is their ??lifetime maintenance program.? Why would you need that if once you lost your weight you would have the ability to keep it off? After all they claim they are teaching you to ??eat right.?
The biggest part of their plan and the biggest money makers for them are the pricey supplements they push on you. I only had 25 lbs to lose and my plan with supplements cost almost $2000. It seemed every time I went in (3 times a week) they were trying to sell me something which really irked me. The whole reason I even got on their plan in the first place was so I could get off RX diet pills (ie supplements.) Had I wanted to keep buying diet products I would have never tried Quick Weight Loss. I haven??t been into their office/store in almost 9 months and every single week one of their ??counselors? will call me (I let it go to voicemail) with some special they are having on some supplement.
Before anybody pays for the Quick Weight Loss program I would recommend you just go to your family doctor and have a health assessment and ask for an RX of phentermine (your doctor is qualified to say if you are healthy enough to take it or not) and an eating plan. Then buy a good pair of walking shoes and hit the pavement. In the long run (no pun intended) you will save a ton of money and see real long term results.

+MissYouKnowWhoo,
posted Dec 20th, 2008 3:56 pmCongrats on your decision to make a change in your lifestyle!! The idea behind the program is simple, portion control of specific foods in each group. If you are going to go with all the supplements make sure you go to dietdirect for cheaper alternatives. I am down 19.5 lbs as of today with over 12 of them fat pounds. The diet is a life change, it will teach you to make good choices at home and when you are out, you just need to plan in advance for your day and then you won;t be stuck somewhere hungry and make a bad choice. Always plan ahead!! Good luck to you!

-I joined QWC in October the only real problem with this place is they tell you no excercise and eat regular food. NOT true , they will tell you to do at least 30 min. per day with any good diet plan you will have to do this regaurdless. They have a great sales pitch but the cost can be a bit expensive with all of the pills and suppliments they want you to buy.
posted Dec 15th, 2008 11:45 pmIf you take a multivitamin excercise and really watch what you eat portion wise and try to avoid salty or sweet snacks . Lean cuts of meat lots of fresh fruits and veggies.Read the packages in the store. This helps alot beleive it or not.
You can do this on your own . It just takes time and dedication results don't happen overnite. I feel I was doing better without the regiment of pills and suppliments , that if you have any kind of a life can be overbearing at times.

+I just started the program with basics from this blog!! I did notice there are no servicing of dairy daily unless you have cereal in the morning. Is that right? Also if anyone has any sort of eating out guide they could post that would be awesome.

+Hi Greg,
posted Dec 11th, 2008 4:38 amI have posted all the item numbers to purchase stuff chaper from diet direct.com. I personally don't feel you need all the pills, I take a multi vitamin & 4000mg of fish oil daily, which is what they package as EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids). On top of carb blockers then they have you taking some kind of "gold" supplement which is just hoodia. All of which I find unnecessary. The snack bars are great though, they are loaded with 15g of protein. Besides that it is just portion control of good foods. Read through the posts, I have provided all kinds of information you hopefully will find helpful. Good luck to you.

+its all about motivation!!! You can lose weight on almost any well balanced diet (especially if combined with alittle walking). I do think the constant "weighing in" creates a more positive climate for "continuing the motivation that brought you there in the first place. Clearly this is a very expensive way to loose weight. The people that work there - for the most part - know very little about health, medicine or the workings of how their supplements actually work on the body, beyond what they are taught by the person responsible for the overall sales of their product. The combination of herbs are NOT FDA reviewed and you injest this stuff at your own risk. Most people seem to have only little problems adjusting to the pills and drinks - while others have some serious side effects. I am new at this diet and will stick with it if I can find a place to purchase their products at a reduced price - anyone reading this please respond with any info to me at Stay motivated - thats the key regardless what program your on.

posted Dec 8th, 2008 5:19 pmOn 12/6 I posted the servings you will be eating after the 3 day detox. There is a comprehensive food list that you choose from for all the portions I just need to figure out howto get it posted since they block all email addresses. Go to this website and send an email asking about their available tours, then we can go from there. :)

+Jeena,
posted Dec 8th, 2008 5:14 pmLook through the posts already here, I have posted the item numbers of the supplements from dietdirect on 12/3. I posted the 3 day detox plan and all the food you can choose from during that time on 10/25 page 2. After the 3 day detox you go on the normal diet which I believe I have posted here also, you just need to read through to find the stuff. Good luck, it is doable, you just have to want it. I am down 17.7 lbs today with 10.7 of those lbs being fat. I'm 2 months in so I am losing a healthly amount and keeping it off by just eating proper portions of good food.

+Hi Pintattoos,
posted Dec 7th, 2008 11:20 pmSo glad you came out of the center happy about your decision, the diet is not really restrictive, it just makes you think about what you are eating and going to eat later in the day. It prepares you for a "lifestyle" change not just a quick fix. Regular food, regular portions. Get a good scale if you haven't already, one that shows body fat wight loss, you will be amazed at how much actual fat lbs you will be losing, that is the best part. Thank you for the offer to share the eating out guide. Anything else you get that you feel is helpful by all means share, share, share!! Good luck to you on this journey...keep posting we like good news!! I weigh myself tomorrow, fingers crossed. :)
