Do You Know the Best Diets of 2024?
Quick Weight Loss, founded in Florida, provides individualized weight loss therapy. The program boasts no exercise and you eat the foods you love including the diet program's own line of diet foods and herbal and thermogenic supplements.
Made popular by Rush Limbaugh who in 2009 lost a remarkable amount of weight in a short period of time following a Quick Weight Loss created just for him, this southern Florida company has helped many lose weight.
Currently, the only bricks and mortar Quick Weight Loss Centers are scattered around southern Florida but there is an online program that you can join from anywhere in the country. This home-based program is a six-week program in which you receive support and counseling via email and phone from Quick Weight Loss Center specialists.
Once you have signed up for either program, you work individually with a Quick Weight Loss Center expert in order to create your own customized diet plan.
In general, the Quick Weight Loss plan provides participants a diet that is low calorie (up to 1,500 calories/day). You buy the foods you like to make and supplement with Quick Weight Loss brand's bars, beverages, soups as well as supplement s that are intended to facilitate weight loss.
You can expect to lose three to seven pounds each week while following the Quick Weight Loss Center programs.
- Doctor clearance shows they are being responsible
Helped Rush Limbaugh lose 80 pounds in 2009
Offers an individualized program to weight loss
One-on-one support provides motivation and accountability
- Weight loss claims may be exaggerated
- Required to buy program's special line of foods increases costs
- Herbal supplements and other stimulants are required
- Supplements do not require FDA approval; check with your doctor before taking
- Brick and mortar locations are limited to southern Florida and Texas
- Low calorie diet plan may lead to rebound weight gain
- Diet program rules are not scientifically founded
While all Quick Weight Loss Center diets are custom-designed, there are a few benchmark features that are applied to every participant's diet.
Most diet plans include a low-calorie and low-fat daily eating plan that is comprised of about 1,500 calories a day.
And while the company remains pretty hush-hush about what their diet looks like, a few secrets slipped through the cracks thanks to Rush's public discussion about his experience with Quick Weight Loss Centers.
There are a host of other food rules that you must abide by while following the program such as eating green peppers but not red bell peppers and not combining two different kinds of proteins in one meal. For instance you can have seven ounces of grilled chicken breast but not three ounces of white fish and four ounces of turkey breast in one meal. In addition, alcohol, sugar, refined flours and fried foods are not allowed.
You can also supplement with Quick Weight Loss Centers proprietary foods which can be purchased online or at one of the Center's Florida locations. Such foods include special puddings, shake mixes, nutrition bars, soups and oatmeal.
In addition, you are also encouraged to take Quick Weight Loss Centers own line of dietary supplements like essential fatty acids, herbs and carb blockers, all of which are supposed to facilitate speedy weight loss.
You can engage in moderate exercise while following the Quick Weight Loss Center diet but hard-core exercise is not a strong feature of this plan.
Made popular almost overnight by conservative radio-host Rush Limbaugh who lost 80 pounds in just a few months, Quick Weight Loss Centers is a Florida-based customized diet plan that helps you lose weight quickly with its low-calorie and highly structured eating plan. But it is exactly this stringent plan that lands this diet in the category of countless other plans that take off a lot of weight in a short amount of time and then risks gaining it all back once you are no longer on the plan.
But with this rather mysterious diet plan filled with specific eating rules and special supplements that contain hoodia and ephedra-like stimulants, you might want to think twice about spending the money on Quick Weight Loss Center and instead think about incorporating more natural, practical and long-term strategies for successful weight loss.

+Can anyone help. i left the center yesterday in tears. The nutritionist, I think that's what she was, said i was obese -- no secret there-- and that I was just using excuses when i said I could not afford the program. I just lost my job and I really need to loose weight as I am in the market again. I really do not have 800.00 to start this. I have seen where you can buy the supplements on onther sites--can anyone email me a copy of the detox plan and regular diet. I AM DESPERATE TO LOOSE--I am not lazy like that lady said

+Kat- Thank you so much for the info! I saved a LOT of money on the supplements going through that website.
posted Dec 6th, 2008 10:18 pmSo...Im at the end of my first week and have alreay lost 4 lbs... I dont even weigh in for a couple of days but I'm already down 4 which is really refreshing because the results are keeping me motivated!
I just wanted to write a note to other people who are trying to weigh out their options like I was before signing up for this diet. I am very happy with this diet so far even though I am at the early stages still but I can see why some people would feel that this is a "scam" or that the sales tactics are pushy. I really did my research before I went into the center and especially before going into the "nutrition class". I feel that this is what saved me from spending waaay too much money which is NOT what is required in order to lose weight on this diet. This is the way I look at it. It is worth it to me to pay the initial registration cost because it provides me with daily advice and reinforcement which is something I personally need in order to keep me on track. Just having to feel accountable to that weigh in a few times a week makes it worth the initial cost.
I understand why some people may feel mislead. For one, the appearance of the employees may be geared to make you believe that they are more knowledgable than they are (white lab coats...medical scrubs..etc...) but at the end of the day they are simply trained sales people there to push a product line to make their pay. This however does NOT mean that they do not have SOME knowledge that is of help to you if you are commited to following the basic plan. Also, it is true that the lack of emphasis on exercise is of concern but in my opinion if you are an educated individual who is truly commited to losing weight in a healthy way this is something that you know you should incorporate. The end of the introductory booklet does include a whole section on this even if the sales pitch doesn't.
As far as the rest of it goes its really just a well balanced diet plan which is high in protein low in but not void of carbs. Im no expert but it seems that if you follow the guidelines you are bound to lose weight. The trick is to not cheat.
Thanks to message boards like this one and the magic of the internet I was able to research all of their "special" vitamins and supplements and their ingredients and find out what effect each thing has on the weight loss and where to come by them more cost effectively which saved me from having to believe that I HAD to buy their specific packages which are OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. The basic idea seems to make sense and work though which is why I am happy with my choice to go with this diet plan. But you have to be firm and educated enough to get past their basic sales tactics and just go with the basics of the diet.
Over the years I have tried every diet you can think of and I am looking forward to seeing this one through with (hopefully) good results. It is a very strict diet but I am commited and hopefully that will get me results.
Kat- thanks again for all the info... I will post the eating out guide for you as soon as I get it and anything else you need.

+Does anyone have the "Eatiing out Guide" that Qwlc give out? I have managed to lose my previous guide and I do not prefer to go back to the center and deal with their sales pitches, or nagging.

+Hi Pinktattoos,
posted Dec 3rd, 2008 11:50 amI am on the "home program" which means I told them I was not near a center so they assigned me a rep that contacts me 2 times a week by phone or email. No pushy sales tactics, I told her in the beginning my aunt gave me a ton of stuff she stopped using after completing the program out of Texas. I get all my EFA's, Multivitamins, carb blockers, hoodia, puddings/bars from dietdirect.com. If you wait for them to tell you all you need, then hit them with " oh great I have like a three month supply of all of it my aunt gave me" story you can leave there with the info and not the bill. :)
go on dietdirect.com and look at the following: wlf1202, bw203, ws101, wlf7582, wlf5651. They are not selling the hoodia in pill form anymore so I have to do some looking around. Basically the item numbers are for all your snack bars/puddings, the carb blocker, the multi vitamins and the Essential Fatty acids (fish oil). And yes you can get the slimquick vitamin drink from Walgreens etc. good luck, I am up to 15lbs so far.

+Hi everyone... I just started my 3 day detox and am scheduled to go in for my nutrition class/ "sales pitch for supplements" in a couple of days. I was lucky enough to have found this site before signing up and want to go into the meeting knowing what you guys recommend I walk out of there with. I know that the drink packets can be found sold as slimquick. And that the carb blockers can be found at diet direct under wonderlife. Are the snacks at diet direct the same as the qwlc snacks? Can I substitute one for the other? Also the lady at qwlc told me that their 'oil' capsules are a special blend of 3.6.and 9 which is essential to the weight loss. I think that sounds...well...fishy. LOL Can I find this combo somewhere else? I am interested in hearing from you have already been on the program as I want to go into this meeting ready to buy only what is essential. I have already spent $600 on the program and am not really in the position to spend thousands on supplements and pills. Thank you all so much. Especially Kat and Traderjoe...you have been very helpfu so far. thanks Thank you -P

+Is anyone willing to post any recipes? I am only 7 weeks into the program, and I am extremely bored with the food. I would love to get ideas from other people on how to keep it more interesting.

-No one told me to get my doctor's ok first. I went on the diet and took the supplements and pills and started experience nausea, fatigue and dizziness. When I told the counselors about it, they told me that there should be no reason that the pills should make me ill. This is after I spent $1,000 on supplements and pills, at their recommendation. Keep in mind I only had 20 lbs to lose. When I asked if I could return the pills (unopened bottles), they told me that they felt I was "taking advantage" of them and that I was "acting the victim". And this came from the corporate office! They did not offer me a refund, but, (after making me feel horrible), let me get exchange the pills for, (what amounted to hundreds of dollars) worth of the supplements, which I will probably never use. I was so upset by the way they treated me that I quit the program, and they didn't seem the least bit concerned about it. This program is all about the $$ and not about helping people with health and nutrition. Who's taking advantage of whom here?

+You can get all that information on the QWC website. All the supplements have listed information. I have posted the Comprehensive Food list as well as the 3 day Detox diet. Would you be willing to share your paperwork here?

+I signed up for the weight loss program with QWL and lost 30lbs over 90 days. However I was so disgusted at something my counselor did to me that I quit the program.
posted Nov 22nd, 2008 8:49 amThe program really worked for me. I still have my Nutritional Plan instructions and daily sheets. However, I relocated so I do not have my leftover pills and supplements I was taking daily, that is, the carb blockers, yellows, EFA's, Vitamins (hypoallergenic vitamins) and mineral supplements, etc.
Can anyone look at the manufacturer label on the reverse of these pills and supplements and post the Ingredients for each item?
I want to match and purchase the minerals, vitamins and supplements but to do so I have to make my own informed decision.
Thanks in advance.
Deb
+My husband and I are on the diet plan and have been for the last 11 weeks. We've lost combined total of 75 pounds so far. They plan is straight forward...eat what's right for your body, eat proper amounts and lose weight. There are little tricks the centers offers, along with delicious supplements/snacks for in between meals. We love it!!

+cergin, if you are looking for the same supplements at a cheaper cost go to dietdirect.com the bars and shakes and everything else are the same but with a cover name of wonderslim, if you look at the box covers you will see what I mean...you may have to sort through some products that are not in our plan but they are there and it is very easy to navigate there website...they also have weekly sale specials and special shipping rates. Keep up the good work, I am in my 4th month and have lost 50 pounds and the ONLY exercise I do is take the stairs at work!!
posted Nov 20th, 2008 12:00 pmNow for those of you out there, this is NOT cheap nor is it as easy as they make it out to be and for any diet to work it shouldn't be...you do have to be disciplined and LISTEN to your counselor, you will have your frustrating moments just like any thing else worth it in life...I personally feel that it is worth every penny I have spent, my self confidence is up and I have more energy than ever! I am so glad I found this program! Thanks Tiny!!

+Hello. I am on QWL and I has been 28 days. I have lost 17 lbs so far. I am really excited. I am looking for the supplements at a cheaper rate, so if anyone can tell me where, and what they are...Let me know. I really like the program. I feel amazing, and I am looking better. I like the plan because it taught me how to eat, and I like to make my foods, and know what is in them. If you are tired of eating the same thing you are not putting enough variety in your diet. I know people who have went on this diet and have lost the weight and kept it off. I feel that if you do it then you can always go back if you gain weight. I usually have high cholesterol so I am getting that checked this month, if it is in good shape now, I will be thankful, because I dont want to take cholesterol pills anymore, and it will prove that it is what I ate before.

+You go by the Comprehensive Food List portion sizes, based on the weights listed or the amounts ie, 1/2 cup. Then you follow the number of proteins per day (2), vegetable (4), fruit (3) etc. Make sense?
posted Nov 18th, 2008 10:04 pmKaren
+I just started the 3 day plan, but don't know about the rest. When you say 2 proteins, do you go by size, or weight? Also the same with the 4 vegetables and fruit?

+I work in a clinical research company where are business is to make sure we meet enrollment goals for the Pharmaceutical companies by enrolling the patients they need to make sure their medications are out in the market. With that being said, there are no miracle pills or for that matter pills that don't have side effects. What I have done is pretty much followed the qwlc diet without the excess need to take all these pills except the vitamins and fish oil pills which are the only medications on the market that I do trust! People there is not miracle carb blocker or Hoodia to speed up your metabolism you have to put effort and time in your diet and you will see the results! I have dropped 20 lbs since starting the diet 2 months ago and have not spent any money on the pills the only things I do suggest are their recommended snacks because they are lower in calories than the products in the supermarket. Considering the economy I don't think that we need to be spending extra money on products that you can find at diet direct for a much better price.

+This program really worked for me and since I was replacing foods I would have purchased with healthier foods and their supplements I have determined that the overall cost is not great--especially for the results achieved. I would highly recommend this program to anyone willing to commit to it. I reached my goal of 32 pounds lost in 13 weeks.

-Do carb blockers / cheaters really work?
posted Nov 12th, 2008 11:13 amIf I have a low appetite anyway, should I still use Hoodia?
Besides EFA, shakes and bars, what supplements are recommended?
