Do You Know the Best Diets of 2024?

BACKGROUNDBACKGROUND

Quick Weight Loss, founded in Florida, provides individualized weight loss therapy. The program boasts no exercise and you eat the foods you love including the diet program's own line of diet foods and herbal and thermogenic supplements.

Made popular by Rush Limbaugh who in 2009 lost a remarkable amount of weight in a short period of time following a Quick Weight Loss created just for him, this southern Florida company has helped many lose weight.

Currently, the only bricks and mortar Quick Weight Loss Centers are scattered around southern Florida but there is an online program that you can join from anywhere in the country. This home-based program is a six-week program in which you receive support and counseling via email and phone from Quick Weight Loss Center specialists.

Once you have signed up for either program, you work individually with a Quick Weight Loss Center expert in order to create your own customized diet plan.

In general, the Quick Weight Loss plan provides participants a diet that is low calorie (up to 1,500 calories/day). You buy the foods you like to make and supplement with Quick Weight Loss brand's bars, beverages, soups as well as supplement s that are intended to facilitate weight loss.

You can expect to lose three to seven pounds each week while following the Quick Weight Loss Center programs.

PROPRO
  • Doctor clearance shows they are being responsible

  • Offers an individualized program to weight loss

CONCON

  • Supplements do not require FDA approval; check with your doctor before taking
  • Brick and mortar locations are limited to southern Florida and Texas
  • Low calorie diet plan may lead to rebound weight gain
  • Diet program rules are not scientifically founded
DIET and NUTRITIONDIET and NUTRITION

While all Quick Weight Loss Center diets are custom-designed, there are a few benchmark features that are applied to every participant's diet.

Most diet plans include a low-calorie and low-fat daily eating plan that is comprised of about 1,500 calories a day.

And while the company remains pretty hush-hush about what their diet looks like, a few secrets slipped through the cracks thanks to Rush's public discussion about his experience with Quick Weight Loss Centers.

There are a host of other food rules that you must abide by while following the program such as eating green peppers but not red bell peppers and not combining two different kinds of proteins in one meal. For instance you can have seven ounces of grilled chicken breast but not three ounces of white fish and four ounces of turkey breast in one meal. In addition, alcohol, sugar, refined flours and fried foods are not allowed.

You can also supplement with Quick Weight Loss Centers proprietary foods which can be purchased online or at one of the Center's Florida locations. Such foods include special puddings, shake mixes, nutrition bars, soups and oatmeal.

In addition, you are also encouraged to take Quick Weight Loss Centers own line of dietary supplements like essential fatty acids, herbs and carb blockers, all of which are supposed to facilitate speedy weight loss.

EXERCISEEXERCISE

You can engage in moderate exercise while following the Quick Weight Loss Center diet but hard-core exercise is not a strong feature of this plan.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

Made popular almost overnight by conservative radio-host Rush Limbaugh who lost 80 pounds in just a few months, Quick Weight Loss Centers is a Florida-based customized diet plan that helps you lose weight quickly with its low-calorie and highly structured eating plan. But it is exactly this stringent plan that lands this diet in the category of countless other plans that take off a lot of weight in a short amount of time and then risks gaining it all back once you are no longer on the plan.

But with this rather mysterious diet plan filled with specific eating rules and special supplements that contain hoodia and ephedra-like stimulants, you might want to think twice about spending the money on Quick Weight Loss Center and instead think about incorporating more natural, practical and long-term strategies for successful weight loss.

Here is the first phase of the diet - 3 days. You eat 2 eggs in the morning, 1/2 an orange at mid morning for a snack. One of the meat choices for lunch with unlimited raw green vegetables. You can use Light Italian Dressing on a green salad. Eat the other 1/2 orange as your snack in the afternoon, and again do the same for dinner as you did for lunch. Drink 8 10 glasses of water (80 ozs.) In addition to the water you can also have 2 cans of clear diet soda, 2 cups of coffee or tea or 4 cups decaf, and no sugar or cream. The meat choices are:
* Beef
* Veal
* Liver
* Lamb
* Chicken
* Turkey
You may not mix meats at a meal (i.e. beef and chicken at the same meal). Some centers say you may eat only one of the meat choices for the first three days.

Day 4 & I've lost 4 1/2 lbs. However, I'm really confused about the day to day stuff. I travel all the time so I'm faxing or texting my weight & food diary daily. So far so good. I might quit the actual food part & just do the supplements, drinks and pills....

I've been on their program twice in 10 years. I can say for sure that the diet itself works -- if you bite the bullet and eat dry grilled chicken, steamed vegatables, etc...

The biggest downer here is the price - I paid $495 to lose 50 pounds some 10 years ago (i ended up losing 65 in 3 or 4 months).

Over the years (my twenties - beer, pizza, ribs...you see where this is going?) I packed it back on (my bad...not the center's). So I tried their plan on my own several times (still had the materials). I failed miserably more times than I could count. So I ponied up another $1500 and went back to the centers to lose 100 pounds...and it worked in something like 8 months. So now I've got 2 grand plus hundreds in supplements wrapped up in ditching a gut. Was it worth it?

Here's my honest opinion:
I developed gout early on in the second attempt. The clinics pulled me off the supplements completely (too much protein for my kidneys to process - and gout HURTS). Weight loss increased dramatically. I think their bars/drinks are there more for your sanity -- they are tasty, and can hit the spot when you're getting really hungry. I'm not sure any of them are really necessary, since they pulled me from them and didn't modify the diet at all.

I never took the pills or suppressants. If I was hungry, I just dealt with it (the hunger passes after a couple of weeks anyway as your body adjusts to the shock of the calorie decline). I took a multivitamin on the side.

Unbeknownst to the clinic, I was seeing my doctor monthly for bloodwork (triglercerides, cholesterol, etc) because I just didn't trust the chemistry -- seemed like a lot of meat and I'm still waiting on the liver failure Atkins may produce in the future for some folks. He said I was doing really well, my bloodwork was fine (except for gout, which I was treated easily for), and got an "ada boy" from him.

All in all I think this diet is fairly healthy.

I KNOW it works - if you take to it like you're setting out for boot camp (some of the things you CAN do, perhaps you shouldn't)

I don't put any stock in the supplements, EXCEPT the peanut butter bars...man, those kept me sane several times on the first time around. Nutritionally, I don't think they matter at all (its a bunch of whey protein). There is definitely a psychological element in knowing you get the diet equivalent of a candy bar after lunch (which sits like a brick in your stomach keeping you full).

If you're prone to cheating, look to the South Beach Diet. It's mealplans and food selections are practically the same, minus portion control. On South Beach, you get nuts and cheese. On QWLC, you get fruit and better tasting carbs. QWLC gives you portions to eat and a strict set of rules -- for me, that's good (though I admit I'm more than a little bit of a control freak).

I'm at it again (this time for much less weightloss), but I fully intend to switch to South Beach for maintenance.

I found QWLC more like walking a tight wire than a sustainable lifestyle.

This program just seems like a more expensive and annoying version of Medifast. I went on Medifast for a month and lost 10 lbs. I gave it up though because its soy based and made my breath smell bad, but I'm going to start up again in a week or so to lose the other 15 pounds

Hey there! My last comment was on 4/9. I stopped going to the center for 3 weeks. Then a new manager from the Sugarland, Texas called. I really gave it to her- I told her all of my opinions of the program. She wanted to meet me so the same day I went back in.

There was a completely different staff after only 3 weeks! She said things had to be switched up but she never said why. She added 3 weeks to the end of my program- clearly trying to keep up their end of the bargain.

I told both managers that I would not buy one single thing unless I saw significant weight loss. So far after another 3 weeks I'm only down another 3 pounds- the same exact weight when I left the first time.

Bottom line of me is that I have lost interest and I do not believe this works for me. My bf lost alot of weight with carb blockers, low-carb/high protein shakes and plenty of exercise. So I am about to start back on my long term reduced carb diet and exercise program (Slim-in-6 workout DVDs). I have TONS of energy after the workouts, I start slimming down quickly, I can do them at home and I don't have to get a sitter of my toddler.

Good luck ladies!

I was on this program like 20 years ago, I lost 65lbs, well over the years I slowly gained it back. I actually found my paperwork back from the olden days LOL. I see this program has come a long way! We didn't have any pills, only a vitamin and the supplements. What is this water flush I see you talking about? Can someone please post the info or email it to me?

They charged me $630 for the program which runs for 1 full year. That price was including the 10% off from there florida website. The $630 is for there time because for your 12 weeks they want u to come in everyday to get weighed in and tell them what you eat. After that say they want you to still come in 2 times a week.
They make most of there money from you buying supplements from them. They tell you in your first week if you buy the year worth of supplements they will save you 50% but that still comes out way over $1000 which they want to be paid in full.

Week 7 down 18 pounds, feeling fabulous! I've had to do a few water flushes along the way due to cheating a little bit on the weekends. June 15th is my target date so I'm more than half way there. Can't wait for the final results!! = )

I'm trying to find a way to tell the people at the center that I don't want to spend all this money on these pills. In three weeks I'll be on to my third phase of the program, and that's buying those expensive $135 bottle of appetite suppressnts. I really wish they told me I would be spending over a thousand dollars and they know I'm young and don't have a job.

For the past month I been taking lipo 6 fat burners from gnc for only $50, making the people at the center believe I'm takng their appetite suppressnts. I was actually still losing.

It's really frustrating me. I don't know what to tell them. Last time i told them I ordered the pills online so they can stop asking me to buy them. I just hate spending so much money on their appetite suppressnts that work the same as gnc. And I still dont lose much weigh a week.

I'm not sure how they'll react if I tell them I don't want to buy the pills. Afterall it's my money, they can't get angry.

I just recently started at the QWLC a week ago. I have lost over 6 pounds already! I am very excited about this! I really need to lose around 30-35 pounds, so I am well on my way.

I have been on the supplements and quickboost as well as the QWLC multi-vitamin the past week. However, I have decided not to continue on these additional supplements. For one, they are extremely expensive... and I am already having a hard time paying the $500 for the program itself! Also... they have TONS of horrible ingredients... aspartame, sucralose, and hydrolyzed gelatin and high fructose corn syrup... it's horrible stuff. I really don't want to put that kind of junk into my body... especially if it's EVERY DAY for WEEKS AT A TIME!! So... I have decided to purchase an all-natural protein supplement from the Vitamin Shoppe. The brand name is Nutribiotic. It's Rice Protein, vanilla flavor - it will say Vegan 80% protein on the bottle. It's HUGE! It has enough for 90 servings... so I figure, if I do 2 servings a day it should last me a month and a half! It's only $35 too so it's A LOT more affordable than the QWLC supplement drinks and bars. It has 12 grams of protein per serving and only 55 calories... not bad. Anyway... I am going to try this and see if it works for me.

I hope everyone else has great success on their programs as well!! We can do it!! :)

I love the diet, however at my location in clear lake there is an extremely rude lady there and not helpful at all. the program is very expensive. this is my 2nd committed time around. I too gained all my weight back. No blame on the diet. It was all me. I went back into my old eating habits. I have to realize this is a way of life. The diet is just help for me to get where I need to maintain.

Good luck everyone. This is a great plan to be on. A family member of mine lost her weight over a year ago and still remains at her goal weight because once she gains a few pounds, she immediately gets back on plan. No wasted money for her.

I have tried, weight watchers, etc. and bought so many diet programs from the web or informations, but this is the only program I love and have been successul with my wieght loss. I love this program. This is my third and final time on program. I did the program in 2000, ($400)but got pregnant. Did it again in 2006($400) to be in a friends wedding, but did not complete it. I lost 30lbs. This time I am losing the weight for good. I have been on the plan since end of Jan and have lost 36 lbs. I follow the plan very closely. I go to the center in Houston and bought my pills up front. It will cost you about $100 wk or 400/mo during the weight loss phase if you do not buy up front. The pills are needed initially to boost the metabolism, but once you get into the groove, you will not need to take as many pills. I like the carb blockers, and the herbs, and the quickboost. The supplements(bars, shakes, snacks) are very delicious and they always run sales on sales. The counseling, accountability and checking in is the best part of this program. After you lose the weight, I am 2 lbs from my goal, they move you into a stabilization phase, where they will teach me how to maintain the weight,, then after that is the maintenance phase. I know this time when I complete each phase I will never gain the weight back.

Is there anywhere else to buy the energy (drink) boosters besides the $30/pack at qwlc? That is a pretty steep price. I could not find them on diet direct
