JointFlex Ingredients and Side Effects
Camphor |
Aloe Vera |
Lanolin |
Chondroitin |
Glucosamine |
Alkyl Benzoate |
Camphor: Listed as the main active ingredient in JointFlex. When applied topically camphor has been shown to be a useful counterirritant and pain reliever. Camphor can also be inhaled to treat some respiratory conditions, however it is poisonous when ingested. Camphor should never be applied to open sores or wounds as it can be fatal if it directly enters the bloodstream. Some side effects associated with camphor include:
Aloe Vera: A desert plant whose leaves contain a pulp that has been used for its medicinal properties by a number of different cultures for centuries. Traditional applications for aloe include treating sunburns, acne, and other skin conditions, hepatitis, osteoarthritis, and some digestive conditions. Aloe is generally considered safe when applied topically, however it is an allergy risk and some side effects associated with its consumption include:
Lanolin: An emollient that is a frequent addition in many skin creams for its moisturizing properties. Lanolin is used occasionally to treat dry skin and minor irritation. Side effects include:
Chondroitin and Glucosamine: Two of the most popular additives to joint health products often paired together due to their ability to stimulate collagen production and cartilage health. There are no serious side effects associated with the use of either glucosamine or chondroitin.
Alkyl Benzoate: An emollient often used in skin creams and moisturizers. There is no medicinal benefit to alkyl benzoate. There are a number of side effects that have been associated with its use including:
There are a number of other inactive ingredients listed on their website, the majority of which are cosmetic fillers that are part of the lotion production process.

JointFlex Quality of Ingredients
Listing camphor as their only active ingredient does not inspire confidence in our panel of experts that JointFlex can be an effective long-term joint health supplement. Camphor is best used as a short-term topical pain reliever. It only functions to relieve the symptoms of joint pain and does nothing to actually make joints healthier.
Glucosamine and chondroitin are known as effective ingredients for joint health supplements and are considered the starting point of most proprietary blends. They are the only ingredients in JointFlex that actively support the connective system itself.
JointFlex also uses a number of ingredients that do not have any health or wellness applications but function as emollients and emulsifiers for their cream. This may make for easier application or absorption into the skin, however these cosmetic ingredients drive up the price of the supplement and some of them, like alkyl benzoate, can have unpleasant effects on some users.

The Price and Quality of JointFlex
A 4 oz. tube of JointFlex retails for $17.95. No other sizes or pricing options are available. It is difficult to say if this represents a good value or not, as there is little indication of how many applications come in a 4 oz bottle.
Regardless, most users will probably choose to use a secondary supplement in addition to JointFlex that provides broader-spectrum nutritional support. This certainly makes it a less cost-effective option, and may make some of the ingredients in JointFlex redundant.

Customer Opinions of JointFlex
There are quite a few customers that have written positive reviews about JointFlex’s short-term pain relieving abilities. There are also quite a few users that were frustrated by how frequently they had to apply the product and how little long-term effect it had. Some sample complaints were similar to these:
“Did a good job relieving my arthritis pain for a little while, but then it would just come right back. I got sick of having to rub this stuff on myself every half hour.”
“Hated the way the stuff made me smell, and it didn’t work that great anyway.”
“The more I used the stuff the nastier it got on my skin. By the end of the day I was stinky and sticky and sick of it.”
The majority of complaints were regarding the frequency of application, the texture over time, and the smell of the product. There were some accounts of a painful burning sensation upon application, although those were more rare.

Conclusion – Does JointFlex Work?
JointFlex seems like it may be a very effective short term pain reliever for certain types of pain, however our panel of experts does not recommend it as a long term joint health solution.
There is very little about JointFlex’s ingredients that makes our experts think that it can do anything other than relieve mild inflammation, which does not support the underlying health of the body’s joint tissues. Most customers would be better served by taking a product that is more specifically formulated to provide every day nutritional support for their connective system.
Our experts recommend Flexitrinol for all customers looking for a long tern joint health supplement. Their proprietary blend works to encourage the body’s natural collagen and synovial fluid production and helps keep joints properly lubricated. I’m 85 and for years have experienced increasing arthritic pain in a knee, it’s progressed to a critical point where my walking is now limited due to the discomfort. I decided to try JointFlex (having looked over all the similar products on the Walmart shelf!) I figured, What can I lose by trying? Good choice! I’m tremendously pleased. It worked (meaning the constant pain went away immediately!) and I use it twice a day, 1st thing upon arising, and last thing before turning in.
