What is it?

Synvisc One is a supplement injection that is administered to combat the effects of osteoarthritis and other forms of severe joint pain. The shots are given by a doctor every six months to provide cushioning and lubrication to stiff and painful joints that no longer are able to manufacture the nutrients that they need on their own. Synvisc is advertised as an alternative to daily nutritional supplements that goes directly to problem areas to provide relief.

Our nutritional experts recommend Flexitrinol as the top joint health supplement currently available. It’s ingredients work to naturally stimulate the health of the body’s connective system. Click here to see what make Flexitrinol so effective.

Synvisc One Injection Ingredients and Side Effects

Synvisc One lists only one ingredient on their website:

Hyaluronan: Another name for hyaluronic acid, one of the main components of synovial fluid. Synovial fluid is the substance that surrounds the knees and other joints and is responsible for their lubrication, cushioning and allows for pain-free movement. Hyaluronic acid is safe for human use and there are no known side effects associated with its consumption.

It is possible that there are more additives to the Synvisc One formula, such as preservatives or fillers, however their website does not list them if there are. Consult with your physician about any allergies or sensitivities that you may have before taking Synvisc One.

Synvisc One Injection Quality of Ingredients

Hyaluronic is one of the most frequent and effective additives found in joint health supplements. It occurs naturally in the body – we have about 15g inside of us at any given time – and it is not known to have any negative consequences.

Injecting hyaluronan instead of ingesting it or applying topically improves the body’s ability to absorb and maintain it, and Synvisc One’s website claims that the effects of their injection can last for up to six months.

Relying solely on hyaluronic acid has some drawbacks, however. Hyaluronic acid does not do anything for the muscles, bones, ligaments, and cartilage that make up joints themselves.

It is wonderful for synovial fluid health, however joint pain tends to be a product of a number of factors. Inflamed, weak, old, and damaged tissues also contribute to pain and stiffness, and hyaluronan does nothing to address those issues.

Synvisc One will generally be most effective in patients suffering from osteoarthritis and other diseases that attack hyaluronan levels directly. Many patients may feel it is helpful to take a secondary supplement in addition to Synvisc One in order to receive broader spectrum joint support.

Our experts have developed a list of the most effective joint health supplements that can be seen by following this link.

The Price and Quality of Synvisc One Injection

Synvisc One is a prescription injection that must be administered by a paid medical professional. It is very expensive on its own, and that cost will be accompanied by whatever you pay for visits to your general practitioner. It is formulated to last for up to six months and is safe to reuse after that, however every application will require an appointment at a doctor’s office.

This will make Synvisc One prohibitively expensive for most users, however it may be covered by some insurance plans in the cases of extreme, documented osteoarthritis.

Additionally, most users will want to take a secondary joint health supplement in addition to Synvisc One in order to ensure that they are getting all the nutrients and support that their body needs for optimal health and wellness.

Business of Synvisc One Injection

The company that manufactures Synvisc One is known as Sanofi-Aventis U.S. They are a developer of health and wellness products and a division of Sanofi Worldwide. Their contact information is listed as:

Phone Number: (800) 981-2491

Address: 55 Corporate Drive

Bridgewater, NJ 08807

Email: Sanofi does not choose to make an email address publically available, however they have several different comment form links that are available through their website.

Sanofi-Aventis currently has a D- rating from the Better Business Bureau due in large part to the frequency of customer complaints, however Sanofi-Aventis has also faced some larger legal issues recently.

They are currently involved in a number of different lawsuits for several different reasons. There are multiple pending suits against Sanofi-Aventis claiming that their products had adverse side effects, there is a copyright infringement case against them, and there are lawsuits from a whistleblower that allege Sanofi-Aventis attempted to suppress their information.

There is also a class-action lawsuit that is currently being prepared been against Sanofi-Aventis specifically regarding the safety of Synvisc One. Some former patients have claimed that after taking Synvisc One they have experienced severe and chronic swelling and knee pain, and some complainants were hospitalized with life-threatening symptoms.

Customer Opinions of Synvisc One Injection

There are a number of positive reviews of Synvisc One online, mostly dealing with pain relief from osteoarthritis. There are also quite a few reviews from patients that had serious consequences related to the injections, and there are even multiple websites set up to discuss the dangers associated with Synvisc One. Some of the complaints were similar to these:

“I went through hell physically and emotionally after taking Synvisc, and I’m still feeling the effects over a year later.”

“My first few injections went fine, then I had a reaction to the fourth one. Now I’m wiped out with fatigue and nausea, and I wish I’d done more research first.”

“After the injection my knee swelled up and the pain and throbbing was intense. I can’t bend my knees and now I walk like Frankenstein.”

The frequency of users reporting adverse effects was disturbing, as was their level of anger at Synvisc One and Sanofi-Aventis. Many users were pledging legal action of their own or seeking out class action lawsuits related to Synvisc One.

Conclusion – Does Synvisc One Injection Work?

In analyzing the ingredients, the history, and the reviews of users of Synvisc One, our team of experts has concluded that there is a good chance that Synvisc One can be an effective short-term treatment for some forms of joint pain.

However, there is nothing to suggest that Synvisc One is an effective solution for long-term joint health. It lacks the nutritional value that is required to actually build and repair joint tissue.

Lastly, our experts have serious concerns about the safety of Synvisc One and the reputability of their manufacturers. The quantity of lawsuits, customer complaints, and reports of serious adverse health effects related to Synvisc One prevent them from being able to recommend it for our readers.

Flexitrinol is the joint health supplement that our team currently recommends the highest. It has a blend of ingredients that can promote natural joint health at the core level. Click here to learn more about ho Flexitrinol may benefit you.

Cindy Johnson says:

I had the synvisc injections in February of 2016 I’ve had nothing but problems, swelling in my legs, lymphedema issues been to multiple Doctors. I now use a lymphedema pump on my legs every other day switching right leg to left leg. I would recommend doing other research to find out other issues that could help you before you use Synvisc

Pansy Keene says:

Had the injections in 2013, lots of swelling and pain in my knees, stay cold all the time, my Dr had to put braces on my knees for stability, last shot I had, both knees swelled really big, barely could walk, had to use a walker, I can sit outside in 80 degree weather, my knees are still cold and aching. I think I should be compensated for all my pain and suffering. Will not ever take these shots again, I’ve seen nothing but torment ever since.
